I'm not sure what you mean. I don't believe I've posted anything about the Cubs during this series. I told you I was indifferent to the outcome. I just find it very strange that guys could spend months talking about how great a manager a guy is and then turn on a dime and question him like he's a fool over his choice to pinch hit for a career .200 hitter. Maddon didn't lose these two games any more than he won the Cardinals series.

Don't give me that shit. Christ, you know exactly what I mean.

No, I really don't. If you're looking to be angry at a Sox fan gloating over a Cub loss you'll have to look elsewhere. I'm sure that guy won't be difficult to find.

Obtuse Rodney. I love it. You're a real peach.

I gotta say, these two games in New York have been cathartic for me. Who knows what will happen at Wrigley, highs are in the 70's on Tuesday and Wednesday, but it was wonderful to watch the walking, talking meme Jake Arrieta give up 3 runs to the first 3 batters.

2-0 isn't good, but the way they swung the bats at Wrigley, I'm not freaking out. 3 straight home games. Outdated 2-3-2 works in the Cubs favor maybe.

I was out with three of my friends last night and I could feel their hurt. I don't take any pleasure in that. One of them was one of those single, mid 40s, Cub loving women. It's tough to sit there when you know a person like that is physically in pain over the outcome. It did leave a couple of extra mini sliders for me but I felt bad while eating them...like the luncheon after a funeral.

Have you ever been to a Filipino funeral (good fake band name)? I'm not kidding, it's a 6-hour food festival. People just set up camp and there's about 4-tons of food there. There's a 2-hour prayer service. It's quite a thing.

I'm thinking about becoming Filipino just to get a couple more people for the funeral.

Mets are hot, cant deny it. They hit line drives they get through, Cubs get caught.

Thats what has happened. Full credit to Mets for victories. No bad calls, no excuses, they earned both W's....

Agree.
Two good starting pitchers and the hottest hitter on the planet. Not much to complain about.

Oh, Im not doing anything.

As much as Ive enjoyed the ride, these losses arent killing me like in previous years.

It just is what it is. Mets might be the better team.

de Grom seems to have found what he lost in the second half and loves the Spotlight, so he'll probably dominate tomorrow

I'm with RPB. This one doesn't hurt that bad. They were a year away to start the season and they got some good play in the second half. Time to determine what to keep and what to trade.

I don't believe either of you.

Year Early theory really doesn't help either as the Mets aren't going anywhere and the Cardinals will be returning a stronger team than the one that played most of this year.

ok

I'm not going to go over this now as I don't want to break negative. I'll just say I don't agree with Year Early analysis.

100% true, that cannot be assumed.

Just like it cannot and should be not assumed that the Cubs will be better next year. They are going to be hard pressed to win 97 games again.

I would bet against both of them winning as many games as they did this season. Still, somebody has to win the division. It's likely to be one of them.

You're probably right. I don't expect the Cubs to be doormats next season, but say they "only" win 89 games next season and miss the playoffs? Would some of the fans be as OK with that as they are being down 0-2 in the NLCS?

That under 97 wins is a bet you take every time. That's an easy call.

Mets O/U 90 I bet is right where it'll be next year.

I think the Cubs can be a better team AND not win 97 next season. Fair enough? They will be better with a better third starter and an improved bullpen. If they don't fix the third starter, they'll be right where they are now.

Mine has nothing to do with the year early thing.

These losses still suck, but its not gut punch type stuff like choking (03-04 )or getting destroyed and doing nothing in the playoffs (07-08)

I guess 07-08 playoffs being so utterly 100% terrible make this a lot better by comparison

And it might be the meatball in me but beating the Cardinals in the post season is awesome by itself no matter what.

But honestly, you learn to deal with these things as a Cub fan. 03-04 hurt the most 07-08 was significantly less and this is less than that.

You must hate that the White Sox own the Cup.

Its not just that its a rival though. Its that it looked bad after Game 1 and the Cardinals are a ridiculous post season team.

No, that's right. The Cubs have had a great year regardless of what happens. And I don't give a fuck if Mr. Reason thinks I'm being disingenuous. I assure you I am not. See if you can find a White Sox fan who wouldn't be happier than hell to have the Sox down 0-2 in the ALCS right now.

The Cardinals series was awesome. Maybe not "plexiglass the ball for all time" awesome, but still awesome.

The Cubs will get a World Series victory. Every failure makes it better. 2018.
