I don't believe either of you.

Year Early theory really doesn't help either as the Mets aren't going anywhere and the Cardinals will be returning a stronger team than the one that played most of this year.

Mine has nothing to do with the year early thing.

These losses still suck, but its not gut punch type stuff like choking (03-04 )or getting destroyed and doing nothing in the playoffs (07-08)

I guess 07-08 playoffs being so utterly 100% terrible make this a lot better by comparison

And it might be the meatball in me but beating the Cardinals in the post season is awesome by itself no matter what.

But honestly, you learn to deal with these things as a Cub fan. 03-04 hurt the most 07-08 was significantly less and this is less than that.

yeah, we're different. I called a sweep in the playoffs for the Cubs in 07 and 08. I didn't like the way the team was constructed. And I loved Lou. 03 killed me. I overinvested. I was there in person almost every weekend and weeknight. Nothing will top that for me. I thought they'd get beat by the Cards and now I think they'll get beat by the Mets. I thought that after game 1. I wanted the Mets but I think they'd have gotten beat by either team.

07 sucked cause it was a sweep but my expectations were not super high (although the fuckin D Backs?)

08 I thought they were at least good enough to make a solid showing in October if not win it all

Lieber made them a better team...unfortunately he never got a chance to start in the playoffs, which meant it was Dempster, who I thought was a #2 at best but who had an unbelievable regular season.

Cubs lead season series:7-2

I'm disappointed but they can easily win the next 3 at Wrigley.

They're 0-2 against this Mets team.

From Paul Hembekides of ESPN Stats/Info: Cubs hitters have seen 103 pitches at 95 MPH or faster in the NLCS. Mets hitters have seen 3.

Where's IMU with this info? Explains a lot

You're probably right. I don't expect the Cubs to be doormats next season, but say they "only" win 89 games next season and miss the playoffs? Would some of the fans be as OK with that as they are being down 0-2 in the NLCS?

that would be fire Theo time.

No, that's right. The Cubs have had a great year regardless of what happens.

Agreed, but you wouldn't know it by listening to some, many of who are Cub fans. If it's just in-game shenanigans and anger, I get it, as I get crazy during games too. But if, in a couple weeks, some are still acting like Epstein and Maddon should be gone due to two games, there's little hope.
