Between sending Castro against Cespedes on the Baez hit and having Russell continue to 3rd on his hit, with 2 outs already in the inning (never make the 1st or last out of an inning at 3rd, and it was a close play) I have to say, he has done a bad job of coaching 3rd base in the playoffs. I would have held Catro and either had someone pinch hit for Ross, or had Ross bunt Castro in and Baez to 2nd. In any case, the send was a bad idea and not having Russell stop at 2nd was stupid. He was already in scoring position there. Forget that he got hurt going to 3rd, I am focusing on the risk-reward aspect of having him continue to 3rd.

Jones has been very aggrssive all year...and I know its a fine line, but I want my 3B coach to send guys...as making the great throw is also needed.

That said, you might need to be more aware v. what might be the best arm in baseball.

A post so nice, he posted it twice.....

Okay, so what about the Russell wave on to 3rd? isn't the reward unworthy of the risk with 2 outs there? He's already in scoring position, why risk making the last out trying for 3rd?

Ross didn't need a hit..he just needed to hit a fly ball to anyone but cespedes.. Third base coach has to go..he's an idiot.. Castro is a slow, poor base runner.

The odds were better that Cespedes air mails the throw in comparison to Ross doing anything to score Castro from third. Sending him was the right call.

Did I miss somewhere where he was out?

So don't send runners because they might get hurt?
