Rocky is a great movie and completely different than the slick sequals (Rocky II remained true). It won best picture as well as several other awards.

The first 3 taken as a trilogy are actually pretty good. It's a solid character arc. 4 was a comic book/ montage movie and 5 should have never existed. If it was just 1-3 with maybe Rocky Balboa as an epilogue it would be fine with me.

I think the story's natural ending was him winning the rematch. 3 was interesting but felt like stretching the story.
