I have noticed, whether it has been NBCSN or Comcast, that as soon as the teams are in the penalty situation, the game is shown from the Skycam or Raftercam or the Angellookingdownfromheaven cam. The major complaint about hockey on TV is not being able to follow the puck, so naturally they make it feel like your watching from outer space. I hate that camera shot in football, basketball and now in hockey. I wish the XFL had never introduced this damn thing.

I think it's fine if done with care. Don't you think there must be some merit to presenting what's usually a series of set plays from that angle? Why would they make a telecast harder to explain?

I'm with you 100%! Its like watching the game from SRO in the upper level. Just awful. Can't even see the puck half the time and the angle is so odd that its hard to tell if shots are on net or not.

If the technician/producer didn't insist on zooming in/out/side-to-side I would prefer the SkyCam POV over the current traditional view.

The SkyCam view gives you a better view of the rink and passing lanes/angles.

It's when they zoom and follow the player/puck where the technology is being misused.

It all went down hill after they scrapped the FoxTrax puck.

All American camera people should watch Toronto or Montreal telecasts on Hockey Night in Canada and copy them.

Right, exactly. When it's static, it's advantageous for watching power plays. When it's moving around, I want to barf.
