This team quit after game 2. Has been completely lifeless. At least the Blue Jays came out and won 2 of their 3 games at home.

Yea. This was a huge fuck up by Joe. Hammel was shit the last half of the season. Lester at 70% is still better.

Pathetic bottom of the first. Not watching 8 more innings of this suckfest.

I know we're all emotional right now, but let's be fair, every team that's losing looks lifeless.

We've still got 8 innings to right the ship.

Hammel pulled after four outs. This means we get Travis Wood batting in the third inning.

There sure seems to be a disconnect between Hammel and Maddon. Hammel didn't even acknowledge him during the pitching change. Can't see Jason coming back next year with that type of rift.

Ha. I appreciate your optimism, but this one's over.

That said, you're right. People always say teams getting their asses kicked have quit.

And the season was a great season. I'm not getting emotional tonight, as I was already resigned to our fate.

Kyle has had a couple of rough games out there, but let's pump the brakes on moving that bat to another team. He'll be servicable defensively which is fine.

OK if that is what you want but Bernsie spent years wanting to be rid of Viciedo. Welcome to it.

Wow that is a bad comparison.

I know the probability of us coming back tonight is astronomical and I know emotion takes over during big games. We'll all probably fire off some tired cliches tonight but let's not get too crazy with it. No need to kick the cat or anything like that. (And no I'm not suggesting that's what schmitty1121 is doing.)

I don't understand why Granderson doesn't take advantage of the defensive shift. I mean I sort of get it for power hitters but a lead off guy? A bunt anywhere left of the pitcher and he's on. As a hitter you'd think it would be insulting.

There is one way the Cubs win tonight: Travis Wood goes 8 shutout innings and hits a home run with multiple men on base.

This isn't the NLCS, it's Mets batting practice.

you cant have a batboy in the lineup just to bat

As long as he doesn't eat himself out of the league, he can man a corner OF spot. And it's all futile anyway, the DH is coming to NL sooner than we all think.

man oh man... if only harbaugh coached this team then we woulda had lester pitching on 2 days rest to seal the cubs sweep, and then the resulting cubs WS championship would have been enough to resurrect reagan to coach nancy to a 2016 presidential victory....

all we had to do was listen to scorehead. man we're blind sometimes!

Shifting in extremes is dumb. Round bat round ball equals uncertainty.

Come on mike, shifting is the smart thing to do on defense. One tends to remember the few times a batter beats it as opposed to overwhelming majority of times it works to perfection.

so the cubs gave up at least 1 run in the first inning of every one of these NLCS games, right? i mean i wanna say they left the first inning trailing in every game, and i think in the end that's what set them up to always be chasing.... and by and large that's gonna be killer when 14/17 runs from WC/NLDS came from the HR and the mets' pitching is a serious step up from the cardinals.

cuz seriously guys, let's be real here for a second.... how awful are the cardinals to be completely outclassed by the cubs here? goddamn they're shit and at least heading into next year i think the cubs should be poised to take the division and thensome. you can set up your rotation proper for the NLDS/NLCS cuz i think you felt some burn here from having to use arrieta in the WC game
