These dudes can't even hit it past the infield.

Nice AB Castro.

Come on mike, shifting is the smart thing to do on defense. One tends to remember the few times a batter beats it as opposed to overwhelming majority of times it works to perfection.

I am not talking about that outfield play. I have been on board hating when they bring 3B to the other side of second. More of a general hate of it not tonight.

Gotta give it to the Mets.

They are on a major roll.

The Cubs obviously peaked to soon. As to Hammel, WTF?

Do you think it is wrong? I dont.

It seems ok on strikes but the pitches which appear to be just outside show up as near wild pitches.

Not having to watch another Hammel or Hendricks start ever makes me very happy

I think this was Hammel's final start as a Cub. I think they will sign a top of the rotation starter as well as either signing or trading for a #3-#4 type. Hendricks will be the 5th starter, with Wood and Richard also given the opportunity to battle for that spot. But Hammel will be traded for a prospect, or in a package that brings back a better starter.

rolling with hammel in this game was a "we give up" move, and i am shocked that in a game of this magnatude this is the direction that was deemed the cubs best chance to win.

Yea. This was a huge fuck up by Joe. Hammel was shit the last half of the season. Lester at 70% is still better.

Yeah, that game 1 loss was really awesome.

So you prefer Hammel over Lester? Thats a horrible Baseball thought.

I think the managerial philosophy is who cares because you need to even get to 5-7.

If one is here Hendricks bullpen at best but neither is on roster opening day 2016.

One game at a time!

IMO, they were done once they didn't get a split in NY.

The shift works until it doesn't and that's when you remember it.

Yea, no shit. Lester should have been begging to start tonight.

I'm so fucking pissed off right now. I know the Cubs weren't supposed to be this good this year and that next year is the year the organization was targeting as their year, but maybe making a move at the deadline for a starter would have helped. Then again, the hitting and fielding has been garbage too.

Regardless, this year has been fun as hell and I'm glad to jump back on the Cubs fan bandwagon for the first time in about 7 years. This team will be back. Wait 'til next year!

down 3-0 in the NLCS, i go lester today, because it is a must-win. if they win today, i go arrietta tomorrow on 3 days rest, because it is a must-win game. then they take an off day and go to new york. then, since both lester and arrietta are at that time are CLEARLY unavailable, it is time for a "bullpen" game where you have to do what you have to do in a must-win game. wood, cahill, hendricks, whatever you have to do inning by inning because you have no choice. then, if you are somehow lucky enough to get to game 7, you give the ball to your 20-million dollar man for the start and it is all hands on deck after that.

Disagree. A lot closer than the 19-4 run differential

Why would Lester start tonight? They got beat by a hotter, better team. Start Lester tonight so Hammel or another fuckhead gets beat later. Why? Go into next season with 4 starters instead of 2 they will address this in the winter.
