Huh? This series has been a complete ass whooping. It feels exactly like a 19-4 ass whooping to me.

down 3-0 in the NLCS, i go lester today, because it is a must-win. if they win today, i go arrietta tomorrow on 3 days rest, because it is a must-win game. then they take an off day and go to new york. then, since both lester and arrietta are at that time are CLEARLY unavailable, it is time for a "bullpen" game where you have to do what you have to do in a must-win game. wood, cahill, hendricks, whatever you have to do inning by inning because you have no choice. then, if you are somehow lucky enough to get to game 7, you give the ball to your 20-million dollar man for the start and it is all hands on deck after that.

Thank you for clearing that up. :shaking:

Don't you have to PH for wood there? You're down to your last 20 some outs of the season, can't be wasting them on a pitcher.

I think this was Hammel's final start as a Cub. I think they will sign a top of the rotation starter as well as either signing or trading for a #3-#4 type. Hendricks will be the 5th starter, with Wood and Richard also given the opportunity to battle for that spot. But Hammel will be traded for a prospect, or in a package that brings back a better starter.

If one is here Hendricks bullpen at best but neither is on roster opening day 2016.

Well, Haren is gone and if we agree Hammel is gone, that already leaves 2 spots in the rotation to fill. If you also trim Hendricks, you need 3 starters. I don't see that happening. I think they sign a really good starter as well as signing or trading for another less heralded starter. but Hendricks is young and was better down the stretch, so I think he's back to battle Wood and Richard for the 5th spot in the rotation.

Hershiser started games 1,3 and 7 with a relief appearance in 4. That's what a number 1 does when it counts.

We must be watching different series. Cubs have been pretty solid, the randomness of a short series is rearing its ugly head

It could easily be 2-1 Cubs with a bounce here or there

Yea, no shit. Lester should have been begging to start tonight.

I'm so fucking pissed off right now. I know the Cubs weren't supposed to be this good this year and that next year is the year the organization was targeting as their year, but maybe making a move at the deadline for a starter would have helped. Then again, the hitting and fielding has been garbage too.

Regardless, this year has been fun as hell and I'm glad to jump back on the Cubs fan bandwagon for the first time in about 7 years. This team will be back. Wait 'til next year!

Why would Lester start tonight? They got beat by a hotter, better team. Start Lester tonight so Hammel or another fuckhead gets beat later. Why? Go into next season with 4 starters instead of 2 they will address this in the winter.

why? because id like to think the cubs would pull out all stops to win this game and not just say "fuck it, its over, " like you apparently did.

Since Ricketts bought 4 of those buildings (or is it 6 now? I know they were working on #5-6 already) I doubt we hear much more of that narrative.

since when did pitching on 3 days rest in the playoffs become such a radical, unacceptable idea? the history of baseball is loaded with pitchers pitching on short rest in the playoffs.

Are you saying the rooftops are great if they share an owner with the Cubs?

It's not an either or proposition. You can criticize the managers decisions even if the results wouldn't have changed.

While were at it, I've had enough of TBS's shitty coverage, producton, and announcers. Ernie and Cal are fucking terrible. Camera work is terrible.

Fucking fuck.. Fuck it. Fuck.

Jonny boy would've had the ignominy of losing 3 post season games had he started tonight.

I approve of this season and they deserve credit for all they have done this season. Been a fun ride. They got beat by a better team at this juncture.

I know it's hindsight and it sounds crazy to say, but I wonder if any serious consideration was given to dropping Hammel for Haren this round?

Why? You're #1b pitcher can't start in Wednesday after pitching on Saturday? Why wouldn't you want your best available pitcher on the mound?

Would have been lucky to get five solid innings out of either of those guys.

Yeah, I don't think they're too bad. Turner doesn't do as well as they do with the NBA, but they're solid. I just can't believe they're in their ninth year now and still no one has been able to disabuse them of the notion that anyone anywhere cares what Cal Ripken Jr. has to say. They made the same mistake with Tony Gwynn because they wanted to have the two good-guy HOFers on their crew, but Tony bailed them out by dying. :(

No way even a Mets fan could enjoy listening to Ernie and Cal.

There are metrics youve never heard of that indicate it was the prudent move

Its all random
