Who do you trade? Seriously? The Cubs clearly have an over-abundance of position players but appear to be short on starting pitching. Who would you move? Do ship a big name for a top tier pitcher? Castro or Soler for a 3rd or 4th starter? Is Schwarber a man without a position in the NL (considering offense shouldn't be a problem going forward)? Just spend big bucks on a top of the line free agent? I'm a Sox fan but would love to be in Theo's position. Could be an interesting off season.

I think it all depends on what you're going to do with the CF position if they let Fowler walk like we all expect them too. I know there's been some talk of moving Bryant out there but then your whole OF defense would be less then ideal. I would go all in on Heyward and insert him into center and the leadoff spot.

My money would be on Castro and or Soler being moved. The whole wildcard in the scenario is Almora. If you've come to the decision that either he can or can't play it would be a big help, though he's still very young and maybe the front office hasn't come to a decision on him yet.

I would say that Soler would be the guy I would deal. He had a nice run in the playoffs and if you package him with Hammel for a better starter, that works for me. Soler is not a very good outfielder and I can see Bryant moving to RF as well as CF and perhaps not moving him twice that way, after Almora is up in 2017 or before. I can see Castro being of interest again to some teams and if you can package Soler with him for a top of the rotation guy, that works for me. Castro did a great job after switching to 2nd base, so I don't go giving him away. I have to get a decent return, or he comes back to play 2B.

Who is the top of the rotation guy you think can be had for Castro and Soler?

Wow. Just saw this. You could get quite a bit for Castro. Soler? Not so much.

While he's built his rep back up a bit, you're right, you're not getting anything frontline for Castro alone. He probably gets moved for some young 4 or 5 starter that you think can make the jump to a 3 under your tutelage.

Maybe to the Mets for Harvey. Castro takes the spot at 2B that Murphy will vacate and Soler takes a corner outfield spot.

Schwarber isn't going anywhere. Castro/Baez (one of them) could be part of a package, but it's also possible that the IF is set with Baez at 3B, Russess at SS, and Castro at 2B with Bryant in CF. Fowler will not be back, but Soler and Schwarber are probably the OF and they mix in some of their guys like Coughlin.

Im not sure who is coming and who is going, but I expect the Cubs to be as busy in this offseason as they have ever been. They will spend a ton of money. Its just a damn shame that all of the Cubs great young hitters are butchers with the glove, except for Rizzo.

Soler- he's locked up cheap for a long time, he's a good piece to move. I'd like to keep him and work on his defense.

Schwarber- butcher in the field, has D.H. written all over him. He needs to go unless he can play 3rd base.

Baez- I'm not a believer in him.. He's shaky on defense and @ the plate. He needs to go.

I like Castro @ 2nd..he stays

So the Lama says, "There will be no great outfielders, but you will receive good first base defense." So you got that goin' for you, which is nice.

Which is quite possibly the way they go and I would be happy with that. The title of the thread is who you might deal, if you made a deal. I just see those 3 (Soler, Castro and Hammel) as the guys I could see possibly moved in a deal.

I don't think Soler is going anywhere.

He is one of the few not intimidated by the moment.

Castro has value but Maddon may want him around.

Hammel is tradeable but not for much unless packaged. Not sure they give up on Baez yet and Schwarber stays as well.

They need starting pitching which they can buy.

If anyone goes, it's Castro.

I have to say, that was something I considered for a minute or two. but I don't deal a guy who hits 30 HR, drives in 100 and plays a great 1B. Schwarber can play a decent LF after some more work out there. If Adam Dunn and Carlos Lee can play OF, Schwarber sure can.

He isnt good enough to play in the infield every day. I hold my breath everytime a ball is hit to 3rd base. I'm good with him in center. I have no idea what they do with Kyle...unless the National League switches to the DH.
