the white sox won their world series from doing it the right way, right? not having a bunch of good pitchers go off?

if anything the 05 white sox should give the cubs hope cuz i dont think too many of them were white sox products.... just buehrle, right? wasnt garland a cubs farmhand? then freddy/contreras/hernandez were all from elsewhere.... and i think mccarthy made a few starts.... but yeah, you can assemble the right pitching..... and man if this team got some deep pitching behind it while the core guys improve their offense, yeah, still looking good.... but i think the first 4-5 years of THE PLAN just kinda assumed they could piecemeal/buy pitching "when it's time" (fucking pedantic bullshit) and well..... oh man what am i stressing here? ahead of schedule! this team wasnt supposed to do shit!

Theo came up short at this All-Star break picking up rag-armed Dan Haren and not trying to pilfer a quality starter from someone.

But jimmy, we didn't hit this series. That's why we lost.

Don't confuse Jimmy with facts. the other fact Lester and Arrieta, who might have led them to victories, did not pitch as well as they needed to, to win.

That series was the kind of utter disgrace you only get from the Chicago Cubs.

Of course the series ends with a caught looking strikeout.

Now we can shift our attention to the Blackhawks and Trevor Daley as their #3 defenseman.

Well boys & girls, it was a hell of a ride this year for Cub baseball. It sucks it ended the way it did, but the Winter Meetings are right around the corner and April will be here before you know it. We'll be able to turn the page quickly on this one.

Barring something catastrophic occurring, we should be back competing for a playoff spot again next year and hopefully for years to come. Smile everybody, it's just a game.

This board has always leaned Sox, a function of the Score being a Cub-hating station until a few years ago.

This could easily be as good as it ever gets. Tomorrow is guaranteed to no one. Everyone involved fucked up.

The pitch looked high, but probably too close to be taking. Trailing by 5, that call surely was not something to wring one's hands over.

Nothing is guaranteed, but I like their chances in 2016 and for the next several years to come.

yeah well i have it under sufficent authority that the future has the possibility to be great or terrible, and since it has not yet occurred it remains simultaneously both.

of course since you're curious hair the future is a horrible place that's just waiting to teabag you with its 3 week unwashed testicles that's sporting a bears tattoo.

Cubs have lost 3+ games in a row in four straight postseasons. This team has a lot of quit in it.

Yeah, the first sentence may be right, but the last is a little extreme.

at least there was no heartbreak this time around. Cubs got plain beat in all facets by the Mets. 84 they were a better team than the Padres and 03 they should have put away the Marlins w/ the arms they had but this year, just outplayed.

ya they need one more top grade pitcher. I don't think Arietta is going to repeat what he did this year in 16.

I had more fun watching Cubs games this year than any other besides 1984 & 2003. This team & organization is unbelievably likable & for the first time in many years, I will look forward to both the baseball off season & next year. Were in for a fun stretch.

Now its time to move all in on the Blackhawks & college football.

Even if he wins 20 and has a 2.00 ERA, it would be a step down. He was historically great. So yeah, probably not going to repeat 2015. But if he is anywhere close and they add another top starter, overall it's a better rotation. If they can also teach Lester to hold runners and throw to bases.....
