Just love that he starts in the middle of the NFL season....and his first pick is a baseball game.

I will need the list of people that buy his services for the authorities

Do people really use services like this? I guess somebody does or it wouldn't exist.

But, who are these people that would pay 25 bucks to know what North thinks about the total of the Memphis/Tulsa game?

I really don't get it. If you are that into gambling, wouldn't you have your own opinions on that stuff or is it just straight addict behavior where you have to bet on everything you don't want to bother to learn anything about the games at all? Or is it superstitions?

Many years ago, I called one of these hotlines. You know, a free Lock of the Week with one phone call. Well, I get a guy who's in a casino, judging by all the background noise. He just said someone will call you back with the lock. Not much later, an older guy with a raspy voice, referring to himself as The Baron, calls me and starts asking a bunch of question (what do I do for a living, how much money do I wager, how often, etc.). I said "look, I was just calling to get the free play," which he never gave me. What he did do, though, was call my cell every couple days for the next few weeks. Kinda freaked me out. One voicemail was "Gregory, you've gotta stop being scared to answer your phone." I was waiting for him to show up at my doorstep.

You can steal picks from reputable publications on gambling message boards. Been doing it for years. Why anybody would pay is beyond me. But I'm sure nobody is paying for North.

Thread title gave hope for Douchebag's return.

Alas, it was not to be.

Think some of you remember when I took one for the team as we paid the $29.99 for a weeks worth of picks. Think we hit 1 W 3 L. There was a MONEY BACK GUARANTEE and it took Spaceball about a month to process the refund after about 6 requests.

Somehow North went 4-0 that week! he made some last second changes we didnt get.

But still Vintage North....he could actually do this on the up and up....there are guys that have real records, but they are like the Cubs of the late 80's and 90's. You find the stat that makes you look good.

Cubs as a team are batting over .300 in the last 4 games. Hit Safely in 9 of last 13 games!!!

Could give me an Undefeated in SEC Picks....could be 1-0...

Instead North has had about 10 or more of these tout services, with no record, he starts in the middle of seasons. It is amazing.

Is it really much different than taking investment advise from Cramer or other supposed experts?

Called in college when I was 18. They called us back all day on Sundays the phone would just ring.

Yes, his picks would often change somehow when it was time to publish the results. I also like that he only bet in multiples of 100 units, and he wouldn't take vig into account when saying how many units he was up.

Did anyone ever explain to "Pappy" that a bookie giving out gambling picks doesn't make any sense?

He should be the handicapping priest, or maybe just the handicapped priest.

The Pope of Picks could've worked if he was set on the whole religious thing.
