Isn't he seen as a credible Bulls reporter by that show/station?

I hear him on M&H but don't recall him being on B&B for quite a while.

I follow the show on this board; I haven't heard a live show in months, but do enjoy (or hate) the conversation that comes from Bernstein being so wrong, so often. I wouldn't know for sure if Johnson has been a guest; I thought I heard him on there after the FM station went down.

Exactly!!!

Where are Dan's sources in Halas Hall OR law enforcement giving him the scoop???

Not the guys on the beat responsibility to inform the public or super connected radio hosts about stuff the team doesn't want out.

DAN. HAS. BEEN. EXPOSED.

Terry: I had it on my answering machine. Didn't check it until after it was reported. Just like the Cutler trade.

In the past. Before he was a full time host, or a part time host, Bernstine was in the same role as ZZ. Bernstine saw what the Bears wanted him to see, heard what the Bears wanted him to hear, and said what the Bears wanted him to say. He didn't go to "J" school and probably didn't take many (more than one) classes, so he wasn't astute enough to be able to defend himself on his "journalistic credentials." When it came to the game he was relatively football ignorant, and many called him out on this.

More recently, he has come to have "sources" that tell him "things." His sources have told him things about drug busts, and about child molesting cover-ups. His sources can defy HIPAA laws, and give him the skinny about multi-party legal negotiations. He has on numerous ocassions spoken about events that he claims occurred that no other person could claim or verify (Parrot Boers excepted). His reliance upon Twitter has more than once put him on the wrong side of information. Unverifiable, inaccurate, and more than once having him talking with certainty about someone or a situation while being completely wrong.

In a sense, he should be the last guy to sit and pound the bully pulpit as to how or why someone else didn't report what they may or may not have seen. He's a shock jock who talks sports, and he is bereft of any contacts, peers, or sources (whatever) who will come on the air and speak, or repeat, what he claims they may have told him. Not a one. At least not one who has come on his show and come back again with more information.

Ask yourself, why is that? Why. Is. That?

How many years ago did I tell you these guys follow each other around? JD and ZZ...neither scoops the other, there is NO WAY they both just chose to not report what they saw.

this is a philosophical issue IMO.... do we have a divinely mandated right to know everything that goes on behind closed doors at halas hall? of course we WANT to know this stuff, and when word gets out and the "beat reporters" are exposed as corporate mouthpieces/shills you wanna stand up and rail the guy/s involved accordingly, but this IS 2015 where self-censorship is programmed into all of us and since the general social contact is one where its like "you should thank god for any job you have because if you dont want it 5000 other people do and society, let alone us, doesnt/dont owe you shit you fucking leech!" --- so therefore if the bears go up to zach and say YOU DONT REPORT THIS.... you know the guy is gonna follow orders cuz he doesnt wanna mess up the gravy train.

"the voice of the fan" is a concept that likely died out somewhere in the first few years of the new millennium, and while it sounds nice and uplifting like we the fans matter, as bernstein has reminded us time and time again we technically dont. sports talk radio has proved itself a viable enough format to where its now formally under corporate umbrellas, and since there will always be enough people out there listening to ANYTHING you put on thats where these franchises have realized that these sports talk stations/staff are just an overglorified DL promotional dept/wing of the team, and with dan bernstein out front leading the pack that sponsors/partners > listeners (cuz listeners dont pay the bills/salaries!) it's basically known in 2015 that "the fan" is just a fucking formality that is cowtowed to in order to make it seem like the station is "the voice of the fan" --- but really it's "the voice of the organ-I-zations" and while we WANT to slag off zach and KC and others for being shills/stooges/etc that routinely violate the original "social contract" that these stations had with the listeners, man, i guarantee you if you caught em over a drink at a bar and they opened up to you they'd say they make good $$$ for a bullshit job and they're not going to risk losing that/access just so they can appease 500-5000 hardcore listeners like us and get some "Cred"....

...cuz in the end i bet you guys like zach and KC know they make good $$$ to do a totally bullshit job and nowadays they know how utterly replaceable they are, cuz if they dont lick enough ass i bet there's 500+ resumes on file with their employer/s to replace them with someone who GLADLY lick ass and shill for the teams as a condition of getting hired.

so yeah in an ideal world journalistic/personal integrity > path of least resistance with the team/s, but this is 2015 and PROTIP: you dont matter beyond being a leech on society who wants to cry and whine and take more from good upstanding successful job creators who pay too much for this "society" thing to begin with. therefore, the zachs and KCs of the world will never side with you cuz being respected as "the realest beat reporter in town" is likely something that would kill any chances of upward mobility in their careers, cuz if zach reported the fight and the bears/score canned him, are we going to his patreon and giving him 2500-5000/month so he can do podcasts and youtube videos of independent reporting? nope. therefore what can we do for these guys? i think its absolutely nothing, so the corporate side is always gonna get what it wants.

Cuz Bernstein and Larry were wondering out loud if the Bears told the reporters to dummy up. They said they were gonna check with their sources. Well, they don't have to wonder out loud or check their sources. They can ask Zack on the air. But they don't want to do him like that. Cuz they know he works for the Bears. Don't want to put him on the spot.

Yeah, Bernstein called him out. But he'll only go so far.

I'm probably more outraged by Bernstein/Holmes acting as if they are the dean(s) of reporting.

It was more pathetic when drinky tried to join the big boy table saying something like "We've all covered teams so we know...blah blah blah."

Drinky, you answer the phones. I mean I think you did the Cubs beat for like a month. Then they discovered you sucked at it.

Spot on. That pretty much sums it up right there. Both of these goofs are far removed & out of touch with Chicago sports teams.

This is why the ZZ reports are so useless and it is stupid that The Score lets it continue. I guess they like that money the Bears give them though for buying time on the station so it makes sense.

A reporter is only worth it if he is giving you the information that is important, and ZZ constantly hides information at the request of the Bears.

I don't like ZZ but he might be powerless here. Conflicts between reporting and business interests always mean there's more at play than an individual's news reports/articles. In this case the station may prefer that reporters not rock the boat when it comes to access to the Bears.

You can't even call these guys reporters. They just show up at "pressers" and eat donuts.

I would agree, especially since the Score lets him work for the Bears too.

If Bernstein really wanted to go after someone, why not a guy like Biggs? He's supposed to be the big bear guy.

The "tough question" needs to be asked. It is a job for City of Fools that always gets on the air. Ask him Danny where was your guy?

Yep, cast that ginger-haired bitch to the streets.

What kind of "reporter" see's an altercation between the GM and a big name player in the parking lot but comes on air to discuss on the field issues instead?

Hiding or sitting on something doesn't bother me as much with ZZ as his other giant flaw. His constant apologizing and justifying things the Bears or their players do when the whole fandom know otherwise irritates me.
