New ownership wont abandon a market with ~10m people and an adjacent state that's 15th in population that has no MLB team. If the Sox did leave there would be a lot of franchises looking to move in to take their place.

Scorehead said they were a small market team America, can't you read!!!

And if that shithead says it, it must be true!

I'm not sure that another baseball club would want to try to compete with the Cubs for fans. The White Sox have struggled here to remain relevant for a long time & they have roots in Chicago. I doubt anyone on the south side would give a shit if the Marlins moved in.

If the Mets can compete with the Yankees so can someone with the Cubs.

Politically, you can't let the White Sox leave. It just can't happen.

The Sox will chip in some for it but they'll get some things back from the city just like the Cubs are that will make up for it. Comiskeyville!

You try and be the politician that lets the South Side baseball team leave and see how it works out.

No.

It's not politically damaging at all. If there's one thing Sox fans are great at it's not caring.

Right now if JR threatened to leave, nobody would raise a finger to stop him.

The south side has approximately 800,000 people over a land area about the size of the west and north side's combined. Include NWI and south suburbs and that number explodes to something like 3,000,000. These are fans the White Sox could just have if they wanted but have chosen to repeatedly alienate. Not to mention there are plenty of Sox fans living throughout the area, you know this. You see Sox license plates in Wilmette.

Meanwhile the Charlotte metro has 2.3m people total. Vegas metro has 1.3m, and water issues are putting it in mortal danger.

I'm no businessman, but the numbers speak for themselves. There's a lot more to work with in Chicago and if somebody comes in here and does it right the Sox will clean up.

Don't blame me 75% of the fanbase is made up of Hatchetmans.

When Jerry decides to leave it'll go like this:

And it's not like anything will be lost. Sox will still be able to back to their favorite pastime of rooting against the Cubs.

Chicago will surive without the Sox. Chicago will surive without any sports teams.

A pennant just means winning their league and that I am confident will happen in the next couple years for the Cubs. A WS title is a bit tougher, as I really like that KC ballclub. What a bullpen. They can hit homers, manufacture runs, good, if not great starting staff. But no doubt in my mind the Cubs win a pennant before JR decides to relocate. I don't know what year his lease deal expires at U.S. cellular, but I doubt it's anytime soon or we would be aware of it, because he would probably be threatening to leave the state unless he got more handouts from taxpayers to compensate him for the fact that Baseball fans in Chicago so much prefer to go to Wrigley field to see the Cubs, than go see the steaming pile of dog crap his team has to offer in a park located in a shitty area nobody wants to go to.

Don't worry about my medication. Maybe you two goofs should be on something besides Theo's Kool-Aid.

If Charlotte were such a great place to put a major-league team, they'd have one already. Instead, they just built a new AAA park for the Sox' farm team that isn't even expandable to major-league specifications like the one in Buffalo was -- and no team is ever coming to Buffalo.

The Sox aren't moving and they're getting more than 30 years out of New Comiskey with all the renovations. Angel Stadium is about 50 years old now and there hasn't been much more than idle murmurs about building a new place.

The existing lease ends in 2029 and is highly, highly favorable to Reinsdorf. Number 1 the market potential in Chicago is greater than any other city. Number 2…he’d never get that sweet of a deal in another city. The white Sox are not relocating any time soon. Period.

A new owner would inherit the same sweet lease that’s in place and would be a moron to move….if anything, though, given the reputation of JR and the number of times he’s been an ass in the eye of the public, I do think a new owner would result in a surge of interest….granted, the team on the field would need to be drastically improved. I love the White Sox, but they are a great example of mis-management and missed opportunity.

If the Cubs don't win a pennant in the next five seasons, I will quit the board.

They were four wins away with a 'year early' team with glaring, yet easily resolved, weaknesses.

2016-2020 would be more focused on 'how many pennants?'

You're welcome. I am also as confident as you in the Cubs.

I couldn't imagine this board without me just as I cannot imagine what hell would actually be like.
