Their show is about them and their personalities, with sports talk being incidental. They don't realize that we want to hear about teams and players and stories, not them.

Something at least must be done about Goff. When he is not shouting, he is laughing (at nothing funny).

This is definitely not someone at the station.

I enjoy Spiegel's fantasy sleepers. They usually run the ad a few days after the games have ended. He gave three of this week, two of which were awful.

Lets all be nice to Mr Spiegel.

I have a trade offer on the table for him

I'd rather have someone with acute laryngitis instead of Murphy.

This is a bad thought, even for you Scorehead.

You make a good point. Goff is just a strange guy. He really is.

He can't just talk about a game. He has to tell you what he was doing while watching the game, then the conversation becomes about him.

An example just happened.

Goff was talking about this being the 10 year anniversary of the Sox WS win. So he had to say that immediately after Juan Uribe made the final out that he banged his girlfriend. Like that was the story in his mind.

I have done a complete 180 on Goff. He was a good 670 bench guy. He is a lousy everyday show host. Same with Meatpants. I could take him doing a weekly baseball show, or some Cubs stuff, but not everyday. No way does this show have long term legs.

I don't think this should be a huge surprise given how much time the preceding driver of this show spent talking about tired rock music, fishing, and food.

Goff said "as soon as Uribe caught the ball"...then there was some chuckling & fumbling around, & then Spiegel says "and then she got your balls".

It's tough for Spiegel, but it also have to be tough on Goff's friends just to hang out with him socially. He's obviously not different off the air. He probably never shuts up and you have to listen to every mundane story about his life because he believes it's facinating.

I've always felt that The Score has been more about personalities than just breaking down sports since the station began in 1992. ESPN1000 might be a better fit for you based on what you're describing.

Telling said stories and such to create a show/atmosphere where your target audience can relate to you and thus invest in the show is a good idea and works....Mac is an appropriate example, for the most part.

Problem here is that they have completely drowned the show in it and of course, I would imagine, most listeners can't relate to much when it comes to these two weirdos.

-Weird and awkward child bathing stories
-I got super drunk, had to go to the ER and ruin my family vacation stories
-Lecturing everyone stories
-The evils of black people wearing jorts stories
-Live your life stores.

No good.

The personalities are what made The Score. The difference is that the personalities used to be likable.
