That's a great call, Bongo! What a fun team. And Wimpy kept Hawk in line, too, so the announcing was great.

They were great because they were kind of a surprise. It was sort of like 1972. Ultimately it was the same fucking team- the hated Athletics- that they could not catch.

It was all Prior. If he's healthy (he was for about 20% of season) they were a great team, without him they were above average

I doubt they would have won anything with that bullpen though

I remember that because I had just started a new job, and the company had front-row seats for the White Sox that they almost couldn't give away. Somehow I and some coworkers were given the tickets (or "won" them in some kind of contest, I can't remember) in April for a June game with the A's. Even though I wasn't a Sox fan, I had not been to the Cell and looked forward to seeing the Bash Brothers. By the time the game date came around, the Sox were surprisingly decent, and the game we had tickets for was suddenly a hot ticket and looking to be close to a sellout. The day before the game I got a call from the company president's secretary, asking for those tickets back...we were given another date later in the year for some meaningless game.

I hated that team. Even if it wasn't deserved, I'm glad they lost. Fuck Vlade Divac and Chris Webber.

That team was awesome. No idea how they lost. Loved me some Sacramento Queens.

Yep. Hated that whole cluster fuck of idiots. They won nothing and were nothing. Bad team and bad guys.

Are you two going to next admit that you'd have fully enjoyed it if they'd won?

I would if I thought they could have possibly had a chance but their pathetic nature was one of the reasons why I hated them.
I'm really not sure what the point of your post was. Oh wait... I do. Trolling! What what?

I thought there was evidence brought out by the Donahoe scandal that refs fixed the series versus the Lakers

I forgot which Sox team it was , 92, 93 but that was an exciting team. Young Big Hurt, Young Ventura, Thiggy, made me envious being a cubs fan how exiting they played. I still remember to this day you could never count them out in the 9th. There was a great game where they were down by 2 in the 9th, got 2 guys on, and Ventura hit a bomb to win the game. I mean it was a bomb, into the lights. Baseball's a funny game when you can remember some little tidbit of some regular season game like that :)
