I think that's a mistake on your part. Black Lives Matter started as a similar hashtag. Acting like Twitter isn't highly influential is just too naive still in 2015.

I guess we're at Hawger's favorite part of the debate. I don't really consider this an opinion matter, so agree to disagree.

I agree that at some point in the undetermined future, Twitter will no longer be influential. You would have a tough time actually articulating that case right now though.

That is true, but it doesn't really refute the fact that it is still very influential as well.

As much as I've needled the porcine one, abortion talk is probably the rare case where it is best to agree to disagree in a place like this. More heat than light.

Regarding the abortion part of the article, clearly those Planned Parenthood videos are edited in a certain way. But the fact remains, those doctors are saying the things they're saying. I'm an outlier in that I'm against abortion without any religious basis. (Although, I have to admit the possibility that I am influenced to some degree by my Catholic upbringing. I'm not one of the many CSFMB members who is immune to advertising or suggestion.) But my viewpoint is simply that we're celebrating the murder of children. I think in a few hundred years there is a good possibility that people will look back on American society in the late 20th/early 21st century and call us "the people that killed their babies".

This is a conversation that can't be reasonably had with most women of my generation or younger. I've tried it with my wife. It's a conversation that I imagine to be somewhat similar to one that might have taken place between a Southern planter and an abolitionist circa 1840. One side of said conversation being based solely on the "rights" of the person making the argument.

One of the best posts on this board in a long time. Good stuff JORR.

I have never understood why there is not more support against abortion from people without religious basis. Sadly, the issue has been successfully pigeonholed as an argument for or against religion.

I agree it shouldn't be viewed as a religious issue. The problem with a lot of these things is that people like Seacrest are so obnoxious about their religion that it turns off people who aren't religious. They shouldn't do this, but people then end up viewing the debate in only religious terms and taking a pro-choice stance just to oppose the religious people.

Moral of the story: religious fundamentalists ruin all debates in this country.

Once I saw that site linked Alex Jones' crazy youtube videos, I dismissed it completely, as any rationally thinking person would do.

I get my info and stats from PittMike's favorite site. The one that says the HPV vaccine causes pregnancy.

Black women have abortions at a higher rate than white women, so you somehow equate this to genocide, perpetrated by racists? No other factors are at play? We could look at other breakdowns provided by the CDC, such as marital status, age, residence, etc. But, that wouldn't suit your cherry picking agenda.

Unmarried women had 85% of abortions, while married women had 15%.

Why is PP targeting unmarried women? This is genocide, and anybody who disagrees with me is ignorant, racist, or both, like Leash.

I said that when you linked the first site. The one that proudly links the craziness that Alex Jones spews.

I used the CDC site, to prove that you cherry picked stats, to push some weird agenda.

Seacrest, turn off your computer, and enjoy some football, and/or some time with your family. This can only get worse for you.

The stats say that:

African Americans make up 12% of the population

African Americans account for 35% percent of abortions.

People can use all kinds of stats, but the truth will remain that PP aborts children of color at a far higher rate. Regardless of marital status and income level.

Nobody disputed that. I'm disputing your notion that this is black genocide, perpetrated by racists, when you conveniently ignore the other breakdowns (age, residence, marital status, economic status) listed on the very site that you provided.

In the future, starting off an argument by calling anybody who disagrees with you a racist, an ignoramus, or both, then cherry picking stats to push a weird agenda, is an awful way to make a case.

Enjoy the day, Mr. Crest. It is beautiful outside.

Regardless of whether it's a diabolical plot by racists or not, the ultimate result is the same, is it not? I highly doubt that the racists of the world are lamenting the fact that so many black babies are being snuffed prior to being born. Seacrest can speak for himself, but if that's his point, it seems germane.
