i love this show and i love noah hawley. brilliant writer, very fresh approach. i love how this shows goes in directions that aren't transparent or predictable. i also find it funny that it always seems like the cops are the ones in trouble when they come into contact with the killers/enforcers. danson is outstanding, as well as the rest of the cast. i really like bokeem woodbine's character too. just great all around show. loved the line by jean smart's character "girls grow up to be women. changing boys' diapers." directed right at her sons.

oh, but watching it on the website? absolutely blows. why is this on mondays? ugh. and it's not on demand.

Another awesome episode. That might be my favorite one yet.

I love that Lou is able to have a High Noon day like that and then come home at the end. I'm thinking "I'd be going nuts spewing out everything that happened and likely my lunch" the second I got home and he's just treating it like it's another day.

This episode had a real Justified vibe to it.

I'm not sure why they keep up with the UFO / spaceship angle. I know last year had a fish tornado but this feels like a completely unnecessary piece to add some Coen Bros. weirdness. I have faith that they'll tie it in in a satisfactory manner but there is a little concern there for me.

I suspect they are working toward a telling of this event...alleged...event, I suppose -

I thought the UFO Rye saw before he was run over by Mary-Jane Tiny Teeth was the mylar balloon that Maggie finds right before her mom finds the gun.

Also, really like how Mike dropped the "nice" voice momentarily during the showdown with Lou.

nice catch; it could've been that, and maybe they're just playing up the UFO hype of that time based on that story. it was evident rye was under the influence of drugs anyway.

mike milligan is probably my favorite character in the show right now, with lou being a close second. i also really like dunst in it as well.

Just caught the latest episode this morning. I have zero complaints about this show, I'm getting to the point where I would be
disappointed with anything but a very strong episode.

Mike Milligan and the Kitchen Brothers. Think Danny Mac is playing a block of their late 70s best this hour! Wasn't really a Milligan fan the first two episodes but he was better in this last one. Less cartoonish and he's finding his own niche away from just being this season's Malvo.

What is it with this show and how it makes me like actors I normally dislike? First Colin Hanks and Martin Freeman and now Patrick Wilson and Kirsten Dunst.

Really thinking about doing the mini pork chop sideburns. The style is starting to become appealing to me after watching this show. I already have long
sideburns so it wouldn't take me very long to make the adjustment and try them for a few weeks. :D

Given that description, its probably better off that you are not going to be answering doors on Halloween.

Do you and the wife have matching Harleys, too?

 I'd find that slightly insulting if it wasn't coming from you.

I gotta say I have not been impressed with this season so far. Feels a lot like last season which felt a lot like the movie only both of those had better actors in them. Its basically the same story over and over again. Normal people from a small town get involved with big time criminals while Andy Griffen type sheriff battles the big time criminals. Starting to get a little repetitive.

I couldn't disagree more.

Any and all viewers are already aware of the "AmeriNorse Mayberry" premise before they even go in, and it takes you from there.

This season's characters are wholly distinct from last season's in many ways.

I'd agree and the fact that the story is set 30 years in the past changes some of the dynamics.

I see what he is saying, Guy who doesn't talk, Threw Buschemi in the Wood chipper- Big Mute from season 1- These two brothers who don't speak.

I still love the show, better than any other show on TV.

Yup. No complaints. The story keeps fleshing out and picking up more and more pace. Not even halfway through this season and things are
starting to get pretty crazy. Not sure how they can keep it up.

Dodd's daughter looks amazingly sexy naked, too.

That was a lot of skin for not being on HBO or Skinimax.

It was. They showed a lot of asses in this episode. You could tell she was wearing a skin colored bra or something. Based on her earlier scenes she isn't very
top heavy. It was a great scene with my guy Milligan. He had another solid episode. I have the Milligan pork chops going, my wife hates them. I think
it is hilarious.

Anyone looking at Todds car would be able to tell that story about hitting the tree is complete bullshit right? There's a human sized hole in the god damn windshield with the glass breaking into the car not out. I suppose that's the joke though.

Sonny the mechanic claimed that it was a big branch, which is the story I am thinking Todd gave them. Not a great story and the sheriff sees right thought it of course.

When Lou's at their house I think Todd tells him that she was in the car with him and was nearly killed. I could be wrong but I think that's when he said.

You could be right, I just remember that it was mentioned during the episode and was a pretty weak story.

I'm coming around on this show. Made sure to really focus while watching this week and really liked the episode. Liked the opening flashback to the oldest son and his Cylon dad taking out the local mob kingpin in the movie theatre a lot.

One thing I noticed in the premiere that hasn't been brought up is that it appeared that Peggy was cheating on the Butcher boy. There was hotel down the street from the Waffle Hut and they made an effort to show that Peggy was headed in that direction when she ran over Rye. I think she was headed to the hotel to meet someone.

He was pretty good. That scene in the bathroom at the urinal is pretty funny when Reagan can't remember how the movie he was in ends
and when he walks out of the bathroom without answering the troopers question.

that's a great scene because of the subtext of lou telling an actual war story when reagan tries to compete with a fake war story from a movie and can't remember how it ended. not only undermining the military in general, but soldiers in particular that would know how it would've turned out.

after this season concludes i really want to watch the first season again, picking up on how the two actors playing the same character have similarities in their gestures, etc.

That is weird because Reagan was actually an Air Force Captain. Never got deployed due to failing eyesight or some sissy excuse like that, but he was in the service for like 7 years during WW2 time.

Didn't know that. Here are more details per Wiki:

After completing fourteen home-study Army Extension Courses, Reagan enlisted in the Army Enlisted Reserve and was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Officers Reserve Corps of the cavalry on May 25, 1937.[32]

Reagan was ordered to active duty for the first time on April 18, 1942. Due to his poor eyesight, he was classified for limited service only, which excluded him from serving overseas.[33] His first assignment was at the San Francisco Port of Embarkation at Fort Mason, California, as a liaison officer of the Port and Transportation Office.[34] Upon the approval of the Army Air Force (AAF), he applied for a transfer from the cavalry to the AAF on May 15, 1942, and was assigned to AAF Public Relations and subsequently to the First Motion Picture Unit (officially, the "18th Army Air Force Base Unit") in Culver City, California.[34] On January 14, 1943, he was promoted to first lieutenant and was sent to the Provisional Task Force Show Unit of This Is The Army at Burbank, California.[34] He returned to the First Motion Picture Unit after completing this duty and was promoted to captain on July 22, 1943.[35]

In January 1944, Reagan was ordered to temporary duty in New York City to participate in the opening of the Sixth War Loan Drive. He was reassigned to the First Motion Picture Unit on November 14, 1944, where he remained until the end of World War II.[35] He was recommended for promotion to major on February 2, 1945, but this recommendation was disapproved on July 17 of that year.[36] While with the First Motion Picture Unit in 1945, he was indirectly involved in discovering actress Marilyn Monroe.[37] He returned to Fort MacArthur, California, where he was separated from active duty on December 9, 1945.[36] By the end of the war, his units had produced some 400 training films for the AAF.[35]

Reagan never left the United States during the war, though he kept a film reel, obtained while in the service, depicting the liberation of Auschwitz, as he believed that someday doubts would arise as to whether the Holocaust had occurred.[38] It has been alleged that he was overheard telling Israeli foreign minister Yitzhak Shamir in 1983 that he had filmed that footage himself and helped liberate Auschwitz,[38][39] though this purported conversation was disputed by Secretary of State George Shultz.[40]

He's not dead or they'd have killed him at the end of the episode.

And they left the one Kitchen brother alive to take the head back to Milligan since they were the only ones that knew where he was and Dodd wanted Hansey to send a message.
