This was the most popular of all the pilots that Amazon threw out there for its pilot season.

It's an adaptation of a Phillip K. Dick story about an alternate reality where the Nazis and Japanese won WW2 and now America is split between the German-occupied country east of the Rockies and the Japanese that run the west coast. It's set in 1962.

It's a little hard to follow at first but I think it has some promise. I enjoyed it. From the reviews, seems like a pretty good bet to get a series order so I suppose the first season would start around the Fall.

Interesting plot idea. But I don't believe mainland America was ever seriously threatened in the conflict. How did the Germans overcome the bad Russian winter?

We let everyone kill each other, and then swooped in and cleaned up the scraps.

It will be a very cold day in Hell before I learn how to speak German. Or kill Jewish people.

I won't spoil too much but the pilot is extremely vague on what actually occurred to wind up where they are. That seems to be the central mystery of the story for the main characters.

It's the old "history is written by the victors" situation. The lead characters might be the downfall here, though. The premise is pretty solid but the actors may not be able to carry it through.

As a huge fan of history, this would appeal to me. When the promo for that Sons of Liberty (crap by the way) came on, I told my son that the British considered those guys terrorists. He looked at me weird, at which point I pulled out that history is written by the winners. He didn't get it.

Has anyone read the book? I am considering getting it from Amazon. Sounds very interesting. From
what I read, they rewrite history a bit before the war breaks out and that changes the course of events
for the Americans in WWII.

I have not read this book. I read Fatherland quite a few years ago by Richard Harris. The Germans didn't conquer in that one but they didn't lose either and Hitler is still in power in the early 1960s and about to meet with Kennedy.

That's more of a mystery/thriller book where a guy is trying to uncover the truth about what's going on in Germany. It was just alright.

I have done a horrible job finishing this book and it isn't even that long. I am going to force myself to read at least 30 minutes each day and try to knock this out.
It isn't very long at all. I know Psycory read this recently.

I got through about 1/3 of the book but never finished it. I thought the story was very interesting but didn't like the writing style of the author.
Maybe I will take a look at the show but hard to fit it in with everything else. I'll wait and see how people like it.

Like I said, I bought it and got though the first part but couldn't stick with it. I found the premise fascinating though.

Well, everyone knows Custer died at Little Bighorn. What this book presupposes is... maybe he didn't?

I'm guessing that in this show the Cubs have like 25 World Series titles.

I don't know about that but I bet the Sox wouldn't have a Jewish owner.

Pretty sure the 2nd episode was released last week and the whole thing comes out in mid-November.

Haven't had a chance to check out episode 2 yet but I plan to give this a watch. I enjoyed the first episode well enough.

Maybe Harry Hamlin is hoping for a part:

Image

Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin are regretting their costume choice.

The couple showed up to George Clooney's Casamigos Halloween bash in Beverly Hills, California, over the weekend dressed up as deceased Sex Pistols rocker, Sid Vicious, and his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, who was murdered in 1979. The costume included a replica of Vicious' infamous swastika T-shirt.

After receiving backlash for the costume, Rinna posted an apology to Instagram, writing, "If I hurt you we were being authentic to the characters of Sid and Nancy for our Halloween costumes. It hurt and angered many of you and we are deeply sorry for that. That was never our intention. We did not mean to offend. With love, Lisa and Harry."

No matter how many times people make the mistake of dressing up in Nazi garb, there are always people who never learn
from the backlash that accompanies the offenders choice.

But our Nazi costumes are cheeky and fun! Yeah, and everyone else's Nazi costumes are cruel and tragic.

Watched the first ep and liked it a lot. Gonna wait to hear from people who have watched the whole season before deciding whether to take the Amazon Prime plunge (or use the free 30 day trial).

I heard it gets pretty dull for a few eps in the middle.

The book was great for 80% and then a steaming piece of shit for the last 20. Also hesitant to dive into this.

They have been advertising the shit out of it on TV and online the last few weeks. I have Amazon but have not given it a shot yet.
Too many other shows on deck. Looks like something I could marathon through if reviews warrant it.
