Beyond standing for (and repping) himself, what does Ditka really stand for? He'll sell whatever, whenever, and (almost) however to whomever is writing the check. You want to suck up his slop, have at it. Not that he doesn't/hasn't run some quality places, but you gets what youse pays for.

As for the defenders of his brand, I have wonder how long anyone, any one, has been a faithful and loyal Ditka swilling consumer?

Wow, man! Many (if not most) of us were consumers of what you purveyed, and we not only liked it but kept wanting more. But if we're just "customers" and nothing more, then why are you here looking to lift a leg? WE ARE(n't) just the customers but the voice/vehicle by which you hope to make/keep your bread/quoin/whatever. Maybe because you've been able to bounce back more than once gives you a false sense of resiliency, dare I say invincibility? On the contrary, take a look around the landscape, you're still standing but now in a foreign space and with little upon which to return to. Here's a clue: You moved to an even more shrinking segment of terrestial radio, and your return to the last bastion in which you have credibility/significance is moving past you. Not that it is moving that fast but that you've chosen to slow down. You could and should have been legend, but you let your own demons diminish you. You made the choice, don't be mad that few of us like or appreciate the choice.

RFDC, I really don't care what Bears fans (or any other fandom for that matter) think. When a commerical draws such an emotionally charged response like Ditka in a Packers sweater, I can't stop myself from commenting on the ABSENCE OF ADULT PERSPECTIVE.

We've got a supposed good guy cops embezzling and staging his suicide to look like a murder.... 9-year-old kids are being targeted by gangbangers. The state is so broke they're not hanging lights on the Capitol Dome.... and some are foaming at the mouth over a television commercial.

I can't help but wonder how old Boilermaker Rick is. My guess is 22.

This is why I've always enjoyed Mac on the radio. Although he hosted on Chicago sports stations he never hid his Packers love and fandom.

Like Ditka, Mac always has bled green and gold.

What's lost on Mac is this wasn't a serious thread but he really needed to get a few things off his chest.
