Best team I've seen since 90's Bulls..They could very possibly bust the Bulls 72 win record this year or next.

67 last year and made it look easy, I think Kerr pushes em a bit more this year for it.

I still think when it is all said and done they will be third or fourth best in the West barring injury. OKC, S.A., L.A. all better. Really Struggled against Memphis and Cleveland. Conley injury hurt Memphis and should have walked through Cleveland considering the injuries to Love and Irving.

Only maybe is probably the Clips. They have made some additions that should help. Their bench was terrible last yr. Only thing preventing a conf. Finals series against G.S. Stephenson for Barnes is an upgrade and their bench is much improved.

Kerr is not even coaching right now and they are not sure when he is going to return.

They aren't winning 72. It is impressive what they've done so far, especially without Kerr and Bogut, but we've seen 16-1, 20-2 type starts before. I'll still take San Antonio in the playoffs.

“I tell people all the time that record will never be broken,” insists Kerr. “It’s just impossible. That’s going to be like DiMaggio’s hit streak; it’s just not going to happen. Everything has to go right and even then it doesn’t matter. Everything went right for us last season and we won 67 games. Five games is a pretty big difference when you are talking about an 82-game season. Everything went right for us with the Bulls and we had Michael. That’s the thing; if we ever got to a point where we were going to lose or we looked like we were going to lose, he would just take over. And there aren’t guys like that anymore; guys like that don’t exist anymore. Kobe was pretty close; he probably came the closest. LeBron’s not like that. He’s phenomenal in his own right. But Michael was so unique, so gifted, so motivated, so talented that he sort of transcended everything and I just don’t see that happening again.” - Steve Kerr

That sums it up really well.

I don't see anyone surpassing the 72-10 mark.

I'm not even sure it matters, I'm not saying Walton is a good coach but those guys are on cruise control til the playoffs.

Kerr's correct. And if he said otherwise, MJ would punch him in the face again.

best MJ uber-competitiveness story was the one paxson told before being a GM made him loathe the media and hide from it... back in his playing days the bulls would come to preseason training camp and the first thing they did was a 5 mile sprint (baptism by fire?)..... and MJ "won" the sprint every season.

one offseason pax decided that he was gonna "win" this meaningless 1st day of training camp thing just to irk MJ, so he spent his offseason working on 5 mile sprints and getting it to the point where when that first day of camp came he was ready to roll. so indeed he goes out there and is kicking ass, he's leading the thing (with MJ in 2nd) after however many laps, and heading to the home stretch he's still ahead of MJ and looking like he's gonna win...

...and that's when MJ comes up from behind him and manages to get a foot in front of pax and shoves him into a trip, which caused pax to superman-faceplant and thus allow mj to stroll ahead and win the 5 mile sprint..... because that's just how MJ rolled. i dont even think there were side-bets or anything.... it was just sheer pride and winning everything that made MJ do that. duh, #winning!

so yeah, about 72-10.... IIRC MJ had come back the season b4 and fallen short in the playoffs against the magic and he needed to make an emphatic statement to let everyone know that HE WAS BACK! 72-10 ensues.

In Chicago maybe, but nationally there's no way he'd be as loved today as he was back then. Dude was physically assaulting teammates and only Sam Smith talked about it.

What I am amazed at is in the west a lot of teams can emerge from "basketball hell". There has been a wide array of teams contending over the last five years. Why can't the Bulls escape this hell that Bernsie insists they are in?

Derrick Rose. Rose's injury changed the trajectory on anything championship related. It was set up for him to be the guy surrounded by high level role players. It hasn't worked out that way obviously and it has screwed the franchise. Rose playing at an MVP level and they have something. Rose playing at 100 games in four yrs and you have nothing.

That 2005-06 Pistons team started off 39-6. Ended up 64-18. It's just too damned hard.

Does Luke Walton get any credit or is it a case of him just staying out of the way?

Luke Walton is the acting head coach of the 12-0 Warriors. I don't even know where to start unpacking this.

I have read where he is expected to get a Head Coaching job next year, someone likes him.

Tim Floyd could have this team 12-0

Jordan on Curry, he'd shut em down.

I think the Bulls would definitely win, but this wouldn't happen. You can't shut down a guy who has 35 foot range and the quickest release in the game.
