An adult that is a leading American neurosurgeon thinks the Pyramids were used to store grain. Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to a given person's beliefs or lack thereof.

Yup. The only DNA was under her fingernails and on her shoulder.

They were in the Civilization games. Maybe that's where he got that from.

If that is accurate, that really shows the depths of how bad the reporting was on this story. The latest example of shoddy journalism fully embraced by the sheep at WSCR, and remember, if you don't agree with them, you support rape, are anti-women, etc. For a station that has become so 'smart', there really should be some apologies (and possible suspensions) about how wrong some of these reports that the station carried the flag for, led by the afternoon show.

That's crazy. How did she think she'd win with that or was she just hoping he'd settle? Why would he? Makes no sense.

Probably was hoping for a settlement, based on public perception.

This had to be pre meditated on her part. She figured he was a good mark with his history. She probably never figured he would not write her a check and then she wouldn't have to follow through on the criminal complaint.

Didn't Kane's lawyer say that the alleged victim's lawyer had made a compensatory demand even before the criminal complaint was filed?

The fool is leaving the kind of electronic trail that becomes too hard to shake. There are many on the interwebs who are having their fun at his expense. CBS is the one that has to keep this shit tracker around and maybe the edict will come down from New York to muzzle him. Julie is hell bent on making a fool of herself and has also left an electronic trail that shows her to be quite delusional.

While I don't trust everything I read on the Interwebs (or see on TV), some of the background on the family indicates that they reacted in a very calculated manner but bungled the deal over the issue of the wrong DNA in her panties.

I listened to transition today, and once again heard a disingenuous revision of history. But there's the electronic trail that indicates someone is full of shit. As for Bernstein's and DiCaro's "sources" about twitter threats, that would be the family (father) or Tim Graham. But my sources tell me that she had deactivated her twitter account after she had deleated a bunch of questionable content, so how does she get tweets with a defunct account?

"In a strongly worded statement Thursday morning, Buffalo-area prosecutors shredded the accuser's allegation, saying there was no proof that she had been raped. They also suggested that Kane never behaved as if he had committed a crime — though he never spoke with authorities and has maintained an unusually low profile since the investigation began.

Without providing details, Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita III said there were "significant material inconsistencies" between the woman's claims and those of other witnesses. He also said the physical evidence and forensic evidence "tend to contradict" her allegation that a rape took place in Kane's bed — where she apparently said it occurred.

Investigators said there was no proof she had been penetrated, an element that is required under New York law to bring a rape charge.

Though Kane "exercised" his right not to speak with investigators, Sedita said, the player never made any incriminating statements to witnesses and has not "engaged in any conduct consistent with the consciousness of guilt."

"The totality of the credible evidence — the proof — does not sufficiently substantiate the complainant's allegation that she was raped by Patrick Kane and this so-called 'case' is rife with reasonable doubt," Sedita said in the statement."

Not talking to police isn't acting like you didn't commit a crime.

It may or may not be, but what it certainly is is being smart. One thing the average, mostly law-abiding citizen fails to grasp is that police and prosecutors aren't in the business of justice. They're in the business of "solving" a crime and getting a conviction. Most people seem to think law enforcement is trying to get the right answer. In fact, it's just a conviction machine. It's always funny when some goof asks a cop, "Do I need a lawyer?" If you have to ask that question you should shut the fuck up and get one. The best policy is not to talk to cops.

I agree with you, but the Buffalo News and the DA seem to want to totally exonerate Kane. If he were such an angel, he could have answered police questions.

Not talking to police is the first thing your lawyer tells you. Doesn't mean that Kane had anything to hide, but keeps him from saying something that he doesn't mean, like at the training camp press conference where he used a double-negative to describe his exoneration.

There is a big difference between not being charged and being innocent.

The DA is trying to paint this like Kane is innocent, so Kane doesn't come back and sue them.

Could that reason be that after an exhaustive 3 month investigation he came to the conclusion that he is innocent?

I think the DA went out of his way to make it crystal clear that the whole thing was bullshit. There was nothing for Kane to gain by talking. You could summarize the DA's statement like this: "Mr. Kane maintained his innocence from day one and allowed the facts to speak for themselves." The DA didn't have to make the statement he did. He could have simply said, "We have decided not to bring the case to a grand jury at this time." Instead he went out of his way to discredit the accuser. I don't think the DA is a Kane fanboy.

Sue them for what? Investigating a rape accusation? I don't think Kane would get very far with that. And I don't believe the DA is concerned about that.

He stated very professionally that the conclusion he arrived at was she's a liar without actually saying it. A lot of people are upset about the language he used in his statement but for some reason don't seem to be too upset that precious little Haley made this up.

It could mean that, sure. But I think the statement made by the DA speaks volumes. I suppose people who want to believe Kane raped her are going to believe that regardless of any evidence.

No one should be calling her a liar because we don't know that.

There still is SOME dna evidence but not enough to even think about charges.

What the DA did though was wrong. Even if he thinks she was lying we don't need yet another high profile case of "rape accusers are lying, gold digging bitches!". Kane has won in every way imaginable in this thing. However, shaming her like this only makes other real victims of rape less likely to come out because they risk the same kind of treatment by an office that is supposed to be sympathetic to the accuser.

It isn't his job to put the accuser on trial though.

People would be pissed at him if he had made it clear that while there wasn't enough evidence to charge him that he thought he was a rapist.

It's not the DA's job to promote a social agenda. I think it's pretty clear she is a liar. And her (family) planting evidence should show you to what degree. In spite of all of that, Kane is never going to get his reputation back.

It might be his job to put the accuser on trial, if she makes a false accusation. That won't happen of course, and lucky for her.

I'm sure you're right that some goofs/Hawks fans would have been angry if the DA made it clear he thought Kane was a rapist even though there wasn't enough to charge him. But I think that would have been fair and I suspect this guy might have made a statement expressing exactly that had the facts supported it.

You want the district attorney, who is in charge of trying crimes on behalf of accusers, to be virtually calling an accuser a liar in the biggest case that he probably will ever be part of?

Imagine there is a rape tomorrow in Buffalo, and the person who is in charge of getting justice for your family member is the guy that shamed this girl for no useful reason. How confident are you that you won't get the same fate if not all of the dna evidence comes out in your favor?

It's not his job now though. Also, if she is actually charged with a crime then it would be fair just like if Kane had been charged he would be.

So if someone still thinks Kane is a rapist you think that would be fair?

The correct answer here is that there is not enough evidence to believe that Kane is a rapist but also not enough to know if she was lying.

Don't forget, there is dna evidence of more than casual physical contact between them. Clearly not enough to charge him with a crime, but it isn't like she walked past him in a bar and then cried rape.

The DA is there to get a conviction. If there was the slightest possibility that he could have gotten one against Patrick Kane, he would have. That's the kind of high profile shit these guys live for. As it is, he's telling you all of the evidence is so flimsy he was disgusted with the accuser. There are witnesses- plural- contradicting her story. Some of them may be her own friends. That's in addition to the non-existent DNA, the non-existent evidence of penetration, the bed evidence, and on and on and on. You're acting as if she's still the injured party. If anything, people should be angry with her for making it more difficult for other women to make a legitimate rape accusation, not Kane or the DA.

The DA wants to make sure his ass is covered because he has higher political aspirations. That plays into this as well.

Look, she could be a liar. Kane could have put a condom on too. Kane fucking bit her.

No one knows for sure what happened. I just find it odd that now he is St. Kane. They could have just gone quietly into the night, issued a one sentence statement that they weren't going further and left it at that.
