After reading the details of that case it would appear impossible to prosecute as there really isn't any physical evidence.

When then are we as fans to make of a story like the Riberio case? Is the nanny lying or embellishing what happened, or is she telling the truth? Should everyone just shut their mouths until all the facts come out, even knowing full well that that may never happen?

Why would you or Baffoe conflate Ribeiro and Kane? These are two separate cases with separate facts. Leading a charge against "rape culture" ceases to be admirable when the people leading said charge are indifferent to ruining the life of an innocent person because his innocence fails to further their political agenda. You believe the nanny in the Ribeiro case. Great. Do you also believe the witnesses in the Kane case that caused the DA to pretty much scoff at the allegations?

Patrick Kane is a person. He isn't some abstract concept or representation of "rape culture". People like Baffoe don't care about that. It's why I hope they one day find themselves in a similar situation.

Attention whores don't care how they get attention.

See, it just gets back to privilege and teaching those who have it a lesson. Whatever, I love that this guy teaches kids how to critically think...

I'm not trying to conflate the Riberio and Kane cases. Nor do I believe (or disbelieve) the nanny in the Riberio case. I'm trying to figure out how sports fans are to approach cases like Riberio's and Kane's and Greg Hardy's, etc. I don't think sticking your head in the sand and crying out "stick to sports", or flinging shit on twitter about the alleged suspect(s) or victim(s) is the answer.

This is not a new or groundbreaking argument that I'm about to make, but I seriously doubt that anyone outside of Patrick Kane's immediate family cared that he could have went to jail over this. The real concern was that Patrick Kane, the three time Stanley Cup champion, could have went to jail.

But I'm probably just a white-knight-SJW-faggot so what do I know.

Christ, that article by Baffoe is embarrassing. A brief acknowledgement that he may have been wrong and then paragraph after paragraph about how he's sorry that everyone but him is a horrible person who supports rape.

Well, I don't care if Kane ever plays another hockey game. If the NHL suspended operations I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep. But Kane is a person and it's now clear he was accused by a liar. The continued attacks and the aspersions being cast upon him in the pursuit of some larger political goal are simply unconscionable and show a lack of humanity in those pursuing it.

I think this is yet another case of the loudest voices drowning out the more reasonable views. I don't like the people who are going to continually cast aspersions on Kane because "we'll never really know what happened", but I also don't like the people whose first thought when the story broke was that the accuser was a lying cooze. Both sides exist and both sides were/are equally vocal.

After all this I'd like to believe that everyone is going to have a more measured response when it comes to rape and abuse allegations leveled against a famous athlete or celebrity, but I'm not holding my breath.

Probably the only thing worse on the internet right now than SJWs are the neanderthals who call SJWs fucking Caller Bobs because they can't come up with another way to articulate their disagreement.

True. A friend of mine plays in a mean's hockey league and he told me the prevailing "wisdom" among the goofs in the league was [cue meatball voice] "She hadit comin'!" I think- I hope- most of us find such a stance reprehensible.

The thing is, this idea that we have to "teach boys not to rape" is really absurd. I think the vast majority of us know not to rape. And if a scumbag is a rapist, how the hell are you supposed to "teach" him not to be? So it's really just a political stance rather than any practical solution to a problem. And there's a vocal faction that has no problem using an innocent man as a sacrificial lamb to further a movement. Some of them even admit such a philosophy.

When boys rape, it's not because they don't know, it's because they don't care.

It's funny they don't seem to demonize the blood lust SJWs who want to send an innocent man to prison the same way .

In this day, you better teach your boy not to rape because that definition has widened to the point of absurdity.

I just read an article in New York magazine about sex on campus. The students they interviewed couldn't agree on what rape was or what "hooking up" meant. They all had their own ideas and definitions. Talk about a breakdown in communication! I'm glad I'm an old man who has a wife with whom I can just Netflix and chill.
