EA Battlefront sales are apparently not meeting expectations. Gamestop warned today on its results and blamed EA.

The movie will also likely disappoint. It's all hype for an old Han Solo.

Yeah but how are the Christmas sales of the new crossguard lightsaber? I love how nerds are arguing about its feasibility as a weapon. It's like the NFL creating an alternate jersey. Dollar bills, y'all.

The thing that worries me as a major SW Geek is that the trailers for the prequels looked pretty cool at the time. I don't consider those horrible movies, but they certainly did fall short. And like RPB said, the Yoda fight was pretty cool. And I also think the beginning of the Clone Wars was awesome from a visual aspect.

So, I am geeked and amped for this, but also ready for a let down. I don't think it will be bad, it could be awesome. I really just can't get a read on this.

The one thing that bothered me and I thought was super cheesy was the "I have seen many eyes and I see it in your eyes" dialogue in one of the TV trailers.

I'm sure it will be fun if you just let it be fun and not a serious Oscar type movie. It certainly will not bomb.

I've seen too many trailers and different clips. I stopped reading all the spoilers and theories. I'll just go in from here on and try to enjoy it for
what it is. I was in Target this weekend and looked at some of the toys including the action figures that were new characters. I think overall I
will be a little disappointed in portions of it but excited for the reboot and would like to see the next chapter.

My kids wanted to watch episode 1-6 in preparation for the new one. I still think most people are too hard on episodes 1-3. I wouldn't call them great, but they are entertaining. I think the sad thing is they could and should have been much better than they were.

I will see the new one with no expectation and hope for the best.

Read an article about Lucas this morning. He claims Jar Jar was for kids all along and people just didn't get it. He was right though when he said some disliked Yoda and certainly Ewoks at first. Jar Jar was in the internet age where it got nuked early and stuck.

none of them are solid movies. they're just CGI showcases. there's no intrigue or much of a story, and the culmination is tacky and blustery. i don't know why these movies get a pass as the years go by. it's not about "hating", it's about correctly identifying poor storytelling. and now it's being considered good, and that's really sad.

Yoda fight was cool

Everytime I see this thread pop up, I think of the Airplane (2, I think) joke of "A Bo-?...No, not a bo- a BOMB!

I honestly enjoyed all 3 from the get-go. But I walked into them with minimal expectations. They fit exactly what I wanted, which was a look at life before the Empire.

My only gripe was that there wasn't enough of the Clone Wars addressed.

Were closing in on that Rocky movie

The Clone Wars were being addressed as part of the Clone Wars cartoon...so, they just kinda brushed across that in the #2 and #3 movies.

I'm looking forward to TFA, but I don't think I will really have a handle on it whether I "like it" until I see it 3-5 times.

Agreed. All 3 of those movies were terrible, some of the worst films made of that era. Even calling them films is a bit disrespectful to actual films.

Plus I think Lucas was trying to make Episodes 1-3 appeal to the same demographic that grew up with Episodes 4-6, which would naturally disappoint many who were 20 years older. Abrams now has the "problem" of trying to satisfy three sets of fans--I get the feeling that Abrams is targeting the older demographic, which could be good for us old timers (but I could be wrong).

I suspect I will enjoy this film overall, more than other Star Wars offerings.


btw: the best part of Episode #1 is the extended podrace scene.
