I'm not ready to give up on football yet, but I'm getting there. I just feel the rule changes made year after year take away from the game. I went all of last week without watching a game. I just had better things to do.

More like grocery shopping and cleaning so I wouldn't have to do so later in the week. I'd watch college football still if my Boilermakers didn't suck balls.

I've taken a nap during the last two Bears games.

There's not much manly about football anymore. Touch the QB and it's 15 yards

I agree with a lot of thoughts in here. I just feel that the NFL has reached its peak, and the rules have sapped what made the NFL great. Along with that, just the hyper-coverage of OTAs and the draft just aren't that interesting. Along with that, expanding the league in markets like London and LA where people don't want the NFL.

I also think bad officiating has really sapped my interest in the NFL as well. The last two weeks, there were two bad missed calls against the Bears.

Not that those calls would have made a difference, but it doesn't excuse piss-poor officiating led by Dean Blandino and Jeff Tripplete.

The NFL needs to go back to making games good again and cut the BS out.

What annoys me the most are the commercials and announcers. Don't give a shit about the players' safety. They know exactly what they are getting into. There's just too much commercialization and too many talking heads for me. Fucking games take 3.5 hours now and every minute detail and play is dissected to the nth degree by a five man panel of mumbling and stuttering pricks.

Here is a helpful hint for all of you giving up on football.

Set the game to dvr, and start watching an hour or two into it. Fast forward through commercials, kickoffs, halftime, and injuries.

Arcane?

The rule is good. The application by the official was bad.

If the officials and players don't know and understand it, it fits the definition. Which I did look up.

The story is that the official knew about it but determined it wasn't intentional enough.

unmentioned in this shoutout to myself previously, another cool thing about realizing football sucks is you avoid the bad feeling of seeing so many players get horrifically injured every week, costing them seasons and sometimes careers. It's like a cruel lottery every Sunday, like the TV movie of the same name where they stoned that lady to death.

Totally cast a pall over my Deadspin feed though.

So Glenbard West has to travel to Rockford this weekend despite being the undefeated No. 1 seed in 7A. I still don't get it. But this team from Rockford averages like 320 lbs. across both lines. That's bigger than most college and NFL teams.

IHSA rules say that you cant play 2 games in a row at home,. I fogot what the tie breaker rule is when both teams played at home last week.

I am rooting for Rockford to beat Glenbard West since Batavia is in the same bracket, but thats a real longshot. GW is damn good.

Seems like a silly rule. Sounds like they could be in some trouble against this giant Rockford team. They didn't look all that great against MC--MC's DL dominated their OL, which as surprising.

In PA the higher seeds that are 1-2 in their conference get a home game in round 1. After that all games go to neutral sites.

This was the way it was in Wisconsin until last year, and then they went down to highest seed host until the semi-finals. Then those games are played at a neutral site. The finals are always played at Camp Randall in Madison.

I'm pretty sure the rule is a team can't play 3 in a row at home.
2 is ok and is played at the higher seeded school.
