Played at Farragut with Garnett and Fields. Also started on the '00-'01 Arizona team that beat Illinois in the regional final and lost in the title game (Arenas, Jefferson, Walton, Woods). Had a lengthy career overseas and even got himself Turkish citizenship (and a new name).

I remember him. That Farragut crew was a few years older than me but I was really into high school basketball in the early to mid 90s. Read the paper religiously every day when my father brought it home. I think Manual won the title all those years Farragut was good. Thornton also had some great teams then with Randle El, Napoleon Harris, and Melvin Ely, but they could never get by Manual.

Long time Wright guy. I know the guys who recruited him very well. They took very good care of Wright at AZ. Told me Wright came for 1 visit and signed. Done deal. Didnt even look at other schools.

The roomed him with a guy from Lithuania in the summer program. Guy was like a 7 footer, who didnt speak english...pretty sure they got in a fight almost day 1.

Just remembering my guy telling me the story "how do you get into a fight with a guy you cant understand ?"

I didn't want to comment about it yesterday because the guy was murdered, but I'd first heard about it while he was at Arizona. I know guys that are close to the local hoops scene and they said that the word was that the guy was gay. They even stated that guy was living with his boyfriend. Gossip rumor type stuff but I always found it strange that he never came back to play in summer leagues.

It was also strange that he sort of rushed off to Europe and never really gave the NBA a look. He may have played in NBA summer leagues but I don't remember it. I thought he ran to Europe because they'd be a little more understanding of the lifestyle.
