This guy gets it.

And that team actually won a title.

The Score Curse will rear it's ugly head again and doom the Cubs.

Doesnt 720 have a crazy range though? I know you can get it in Milwaukee. Is the Score like that?

Can you hear the Score below I-80 (assuming those hilljacks could operate a radio)?

670 and 720 are clear channels. At night, you can hear them from the Rockies to the East Coast. During the day, I've heard both stations as far south as Jefferson City. Not clearly, mind you, but clear enough.

780 and 890 are clear channels as well, but don't seem as strong as those two.

No...because the Cubs brass is smart enough to avoid Bernstain.

They 100% have zero communication with anyone at the Cubs.....yet, Terry and Danny both have inside sources. lol

Every show on the station will see a ratings boost because of the Cubs.

Because the same old people that didn't know how to turn the station when they were on GN will be too lazy to turn the station during Who Ya Crappin?

Yup, the entire station.

Despite the shitfest that was the Whte Sox, shows such as Cubs Weekly, or some type of Grote hosted Cubs show will be a VERY saleable show, Mitch will have as many cubs things on the station as the sales guys can sell. Joe Maddon shows, the Theo Hour, the Jed Hoyer cooking show, arts and crafts with Chris Bosio, etc.

Also, the Cubs games on radio will see a rise due to being a good team on a good run, but I am quite sure they have ads on the redneck station and the eletcro B bop stations. The electro X heads, are about as big of a fair weather crowd as you could want.

Those WGNers with the radios stuck on 720, will probably even go and by new AM radios if they can find them.

I think Dan would even outright tell you (and he probably has) that he cares less about his boyhood fandom then it comes to making his bosses happy.

In this case, The Cubs is a whole 'nother level than the Sox. It's like Mad Men when a big-time firm tried to woo Don Draper when saying they had Jaguar, but there he could work on GM. Coca...Cola...

Granted it's not entirely analogous since terrestrial radio is a dying medium and as JORR points out a game broadcast isn't getting extra listeners based on the station, but getting the Cubs is a better achievement for WSCR than getting the Sox. The current buzz status of both teams makes that even moreso in the immediate.

Maybe they'll get a short term bump. I doubt it will be as big a deal as you seem to be suggesting.

Was Goff vs. Maddon appointment radio last year?

Only thing that saved the show was the Maddon was on. Goff and Maddon was a terrible mix.

Not sure what a short term bump is....as I think as the season goes on the ratings will rise....

Also, they will access to a Sky Box and will be giving away tickets to games in contests, which will have huge value and result in numbers.

Maybe not as big as the WIN WHITE SOX TICKETS FOR A FULL YEAR CONTEST...but close.

In general, you will see an organization and flagship station that will embrace the partnership and maximize it, instead of fighting with each other as if they have no connections.

Thats my real question. Do the Cubs brass avoid Berns? I know a former NHL player who basically has a hall pass at the UC and he told me that Hawks players think Danny is a joke because of his dumb thoughs about fighting, momemtum, fire and passion, Sharp, Crawford and now Kane.

If Bernstein is truly the star, won't they move him to morning drive? He's gonna get snipped a lot in afternoon drive.

But that's actually admitting to a real philosophical change to the station. Not that this wasn't already the case to a certain degree what with bernstein slurping billionaire owners constantly. But it seems like you're coming out and celebrating WSCR becoming the "Voice of the Cubs" rather than the "Voice of the Fan". It seems somewhat disingenuous for people to bash Rongey and Zaidman for being housemen while cheering this assumed transformation of the entire station.

not celebrating it, but it is going to happen.

I have said many times in the past I would prefer NOT to have the Cubs on WSCR, so full objective criticism can be had.

Now that a deal is signed, I dont epxect to hear that regarding the Cubs...or it will be very lightly treaded on.

Also, hated the Sox on for a long time as they blocked some great Bears post game rants and even some good Hawks Playoff shows.

Mitch had nothing to do with this deal.

That is not entirely true Scorehead.

However, Mitch's relationship with Reinsdorf, and the changing of game broadcasts to the WSCR, helped him to get the Score job originally.

Well, as I said, this is more of an admission than any practical change. The Score, led by HUGE Cub fan and head cheerleader li'l danny bernstein, has been engaged in a lovefest of epic proportions with the Cubs since Theo signed on. Go, Cubs, Go!

Dan Bernstein still a Sox fan. Until they WIN the B Cup, splitting it doesnt help.

Nope. A HARDCORE Cub fan too embarrassed to wear a loser's cap. Sort of like Mike North and Mac FM in that regard. Now their Cub love is coming out just like it always does when they think they have a winner. And it always ends up in the same disappointment and Cub fan tears.

On October 26th, 2005 Dan Bernstein quietly reflected on an amazing business deal being closed, Mac got so fucked up celebrating he couldnt do a radio show the next day

Yeah. Bernstein was giddy that he no longer worked for the White Sox flagship.

I have no doubt Bernstein was a Sox fan in 2005 but he has switched over. It makes sense. You'll never see bigger heights than the 2005 White Sox. Might as well root for the Cubs.

The biggest winner ratings wise will be Mully and Hanley regardless if the games are day or night.

If you listen to the game in your car while driving home and turn the radio off when you get home. When you turn on the radio the next day it will be on 670 and they will get that bump.

If you listen any other way (home, office) the same bump will happen.

It is well know in the business that the PM drive audience boosts your morning drive ratings. That reverses for PM drive as what you listened to driving in is where your radio is set when you start driving home.

Too bad they suck.

The real winner here is Bernstein. He is now the radio face of Cubs baseball. I'm pretty sure when they do the 30 for 30 on the 2016 Cubs World Series championship that Bernstein will be the narrator or the main interview.
