If Theo had gone to the White Sox, he'd be doing the same crap but for them. Dan hated Cubs fans of a particular type and probably still does.

Maybe. But I think it would be more like:

bernstein: EVEN. THEO. EPSTEIN. CAN'T. HELP. THIS. FRANCHISE. *SIGH* I don't know what it is. Jerry Reinsdorf does everything right. He spends the money. He puts the right people in the right places. But it just doesn't work... Bad... just bad.

Terry: Uh, yeah, em, uh, bad, uh, too, just, uh, too Soxy.

He is a Cub fan. He has always wanted the Cubs to be good. He can say he isn't all he wants. Just like Barry Rozner.

To start with, the cubs have a bigger fan base…both nationally and locally. Second, the Cubs are a contender. I agree that all shows will see a bump with the Cubs on the station…especially M&H. You will see many of the hosts walking on eggshells regarding the Cubs….they have to, if they want any of them to play nice and guest on their shows. There was a time when neither the Sox or the Cubs were on WSCR and it appeared that the hosts leaned in the Sox direction, but all were equally critical. When the Sox joined, the criticism softened, as one would expect.

I don’t give 2 shits who Bernstein likes…I would guess he would prefer to play nice to both teams but deep down was a Cubs fan as a kid. I think Mac FM was once upon a time a Sox fan, but at this stage could care less about sports. Makes no difference to me.

Haha, yeah, this sounds about right. Can't blame Jerry, can't blame Theo, it'd just come down to blaming fans like it always does with most everyone at the Score.

when it all collapses for the Cubs, as I predicted from day one, ownership will be blamed, the Ricketts and Crane Kenny will get the full Bernsie treatment, assuming he's still around.

Care to expound? Since you have predicted  and all....care to define what encompasses "all collapses". Regal us please.

Assuming? Do you think Bernstein could move to WFAN and replace Francesa, who has one foot out the door? He and corporate love each other, Dan loves New York (or the idea of it; when would he have spent significant time there?), and he'd be just as full of shit about New York sports as he's been about Chicago sports. North tried out for WFAN once.

Yeah. Bernstein was giddy that he no longer worked for the White Sox flagship.

I have no doubt Bernstein was a Sox fan in 2005 but he has switched over. It makes sense. You'll never see bigger heights than the 2005 White Sox. Might as well root for the Cubs.

Danny is a windsock that just wants to be in the group. He does this from Sox to Cubs then evloving out of TB Diddlers and Count Fagula.

Still interested in what people want to define as "collapse". And...what it the time-frame for such? 5 years...10, 20, 30?

My honest opinion, I foresee a Theo - Crane pissing match down the road. That could get ugly and lead to some changes. Would not define that as a collapse though.

That is not entirely true Scorehead.

However, Mitch's relationship with Reinsdorf, and the changing of game broadcasts to the WSCR, helped him to get the Score job originally.

This was a multi-platform media deal with CBS, way above a program directors pay grade and responsibility.

Operations Director my friend for XRT and SCR, the 2 stations primary to this deal. Considering It goes Rod , then Mitch, going to say he was all over it.

I understand defining a collapse of a season....yes 2003 qualifies....1984 qualifies. But the statement was "When it ALL collapses for the Cubs". Except that it's significant in that there's a difference between covering a team and being a fan of said team. Rozner at least understands that and it's the basis for his denial. In bernstein's case, you're correct, it shouldn't really matter which is why it's so strange that he pretends. Perhaps he is under the delusion that he is an objective journalist. At times, that's clearly an aspiration he has. He is intelligent enough that he should realize it's nearly impossible when you have carved out a career as a shock jock. Stern is probably as close as it comes. And frankly, I think danny wouldn't mind being Howard.

no world series during Theo's tenure will eventually cause a collapse, Theo will be fired, that is what I'm predicting. The Cubs are late to the game that the Royals are playing and I think the Astros also will beat the Cubs to the punch. And Dan will have to eat all of his Theo love, or won't, and it will pave his way out of town. Two things will be cited: 1. Ownership didn't spend enough money and 2. The playoffs are random. Both have a small amount of truth to them.

I agree he is a Cubs fan, but his insistance that he is a Sox fan is the perfect example of why he is such a weasel. I dont care what team he likes, although I would prefer he joined WLS and talked Sox all day.

It would be given the rhetoric coming from Cubbie Nation.

Unless I misunderstand what "We're a year early" meant.
