They were bad kids. Always messed up or desks and left garbage in them. Not real Catholics. :P It's now RE Religious education. My kids go and seem to like it. We have a new pastor and he seems good. I might start going back but I'm a long way from giving money!

CCD is so parents can drop their kids off at class on a Sunday morning so they can have a quickie before picking them up again an hour later.

I did go through the desk where I sat on those dreadful Saturdays at QAS. I think I stole a pen I liked out of the desk one day.
I hope it was Eric Bolling's pen.

My brother's team played on TV in 7th grade!

1 starter went to Incarnation. 4 publics.

My team had only 2 (No TV)

Lot of parents hanging out in their cars in front of the church for an hour while they prioritize their kids catholic education on sundays. Seems bizarre to me.

QAS still doesn't let CCD kids play on the teams. Their is a division in the catholic sports leagues of teams that allow CCD and those that do not

Honestly, I was raised Lutheran. My dad would drop me off for church at 9:30, I would be there until noon for confirmation classes, and then he would pick me up.

I was raised seeing worship as "no big deal". Still isn't a big deal to me. My wife takes our daughter to church every week...7:30 mass...then they pick me up for breakfast. We got her baptized Catholic. I know there will come a time where I have to drag my ass out of bed to set a good example, but blech...

no big deal as in "not difficult" or as in "not much meaning"?

He said he was a liberal Protestant, so really, both.

Actually, I would say "not much meaning"...I think my actual problem with the Lutheran church was that it was too liberal...

I've always thought of the liberal-Protestant (which is to say mainliners and not those Pentecostals and snake handlers) continuum as being Episcopal-Lutheran-Methodist-Presbyterian-Congregationalist-Unitarian, with the Unitarians dangling from the whole thing by a thread.

We should discuss some things sometime.

Oh, you're not wrong...the non-sensical neo-liberal crap that used to get spewed out at the church was obnoxious...shit would just drone on.

My aunt and cousins still go to that church...to be fair, they are the ultra-liberal part of my family...and they tend to annoy the shit out of me.

Oh boy do we need to discuss a few things.

Sounds like it was only "Lutheran" because that was the name on the sign outside ... about as Lutheran as you and I are Chinese. Likely an ELCA outfit. :puker: Not that there aren't problems on the other side of the spectrum, but still ... :puker:.

I was raised going to church with my mom. My much older brother and my dad never went, and I never really cared or wondered why.

One Sunday when I was old enough to form some opinions, I was sitting ready for church, and my dad leaned over and said,"You don't really believe any of that shit, do ya'?"

It was the icing on the cake for me. I kept going for a few years to appease my mom, but I stopped in high school.

Aren't the Evangelical Lutherans the largest group? Are you saying the Missouri Lutherans are the only real ones? What do they do, still give services in German?

Growing up ELCA, I'm curious what that refers too. We have 2 kids now and had them baptized so I was looking into Lutheran churches. The main difference i found was ELCA allow woman to be pastors, gays to exist and a belief that science can exist or even correct what is in the bible. I didn't have strong faith going into the search, and lost more faith when I learned a majority believed the bible was an indisputable fact overshadowing science.

More I'm just curious of the ELCA stereotypes....or if i personify them with what i wrote above.

St. Als in Palos has hurt their parish by banishing the CCD kids from playing sports. They may have finally back tracked on it but the damage was done. It all started because a bunch of CCD kids made the A team and one of the board members kids were placed on the B team. It was like 5th grade girls basketball or volleyball to

At my school one year all the CCD kids were on the A team for girl's bastketball and the B team was all the actual school kids.

I regularly "meditated" during a high school religion class at Fenwick.

I swear Catholics are the worst sports ever. Just look at Notre Dame, but I see the same shit at our grade school. Our old AD was ousted becuase he wasn't competitive enough. Too much fire and passion.

not particular to your situation but I do not know how a marriage would remain intact where one side has open disdain for the core beliefs of the other
