My only disdain for Hub (and Jason Goff does the same thing in some of an a-hole way) is they act as if their opinions are facts.

The reason Hub comes off as a know it all pud with not much substance is because he is a know it all pud without much substance.

The failures, the giggles, the poor analysis (Kyle Long) and call it what you want, but the "Where did you play your ball" tough guy quotes, gives me nothing.

Add to that 17 years of licking the McCaskeys taint, then coming on the air with the criticisms!

Top it all off with the amazing Harbaugh friendship on another level other than reporter / player....Yawnnnn..

It culminates in just such a bundle of shit.

You get to announce games (not even sure he does that anymore), you have had a press pass your whole life to view games and practices, I sure as hell hope you have picked up something to talk about.

I think he actually said "ball," which probably makes it slightly worse but I'll stick up for the Hubster. Even if inaccurate his hits are generally relevant and timely. Plus aside from the morning crew he's probably the only one one over there who even pretends to have any journalistic integrity. I think he's a pretty good host too.

Yeah, Hub is actually better just bullshitting about baseball with callers than he is doing heavy football stuff. That may just be me being aloof about the NFL, but I know he's better off the Score's bench than a lot of the usual mooks.

Kinda funny how: On the one hand BF is spot on with the "what" Hub has been on Chicago (WSCR) radio. Mac, Boers, and then Bernstein use to be derisive towards him. Some of his relationships/observations are either overly exaggerated or he swung and missed badly.

On the other hand, with a good question (or co-host) he rocks with opinions, insights, and the ability to move the meters. I've heard him doing baseball and he is listenable.

Personally, I like talking to him but that's because I get to make eye contact and he's engaging. I'll leave the rest of it (business) off the plate for others to critique/consume.



P.S. The regular weekly caller (Oak Park?) is what is bad with B&B, derisive towards Hub, and elevates him in my mind's eye as to what he has to put up with.

Hub had such a headstart on everyone if the Football Media Entertainment Info arena and he could not have been more wrong.

In small sample sizes as a host he is fine.

If he was on a more regular schedule people would grow tired of him very quickly

Agreed. I do like him off the bench better than guys like Rozner or engineers. Even his Cub thoughts are listenable.

Seems like I'm in the minority, but I enjoy Hub... though I agree that he is better just hosting a regular show than going hardcore football.

I definitely see others' points about his smarminess, but, unlike most hosts, he is a pretty intelligent dude who has forceful opinions but not in a Bernstein screamy way. He is wrong a lot, but so is everyone. Trying to guess the future is a crapshoot. If anyone could do it consistently, they'd be rich. At least he has a damn opinion.

He also comes off as negative, but I frequently enjoy that because ALL Score Bears guys are overly optimistic player worshippers. If Hub was on a different statuon, the perspective might be different.
