My fiancee works nights and is going back to school, so saying her life is hectic would be an understatement. Anyway, this means I have our little guy to myself a few nights a week and virtually every weekend. I do the shopping and things like that. You wouldn't believe how many people come up to me at the grocery store and say "Oh, looks like dad has him so mom can catch up on sleep!" That statement really annoys me. Right, because I'm not up all night with him 3-4 days a week. She does a ton for us. No doubt. I wanna go all DiCaro on them. OH MY GOD HOW DO I HANDLE THIS BABY WITH ME. CAN YOU CHANGE THE DIAPER FOR ME, LADY? WHY ISN'T THERE A CHANGING TABLE IN THE MEN'S ROOM. STOP PARENT-SHAMING ME.
I'm actually looking forward to experiencing this. Should lead to some good stories.

I'll be the primary caregiver so I'll have lots of chances. I already asked her to write a note explaining why I am with the kid that I can show people.

  Can she ghostwrite one for me too?

Last week, I took my older son to McD's on the way to school. We were in the Play Place, and a woman just whipped out a tit, and started breastfeeding her kid, not more than ten feet from me. She didn't cover up at all, like she was at home. I got a little show while I ate an overcooked, dry chicken sandwich.

I changed so many diapers and I put all 3 of my girls to bed every night. I read to them, help get them in the pj's, all that crap. I do all sorts of other stuff too just so my wife can get some semblance of a break. but because she's a stay at home mom, I get crap from some women I know about how that’s somehow unmanly and that a husband shouldn't do any of that bs. if you were my wife, I probably wouln't want to anything for your either. my wife puts up with it too. These women are just seething with jealousy I imagine. I just never thought to do anything different.

We are the XXXXXX family. Our family consists of I and my wife and our three children. In June of this year we were given a months notice to move because the owner of our rental property decided to sell. The short notice move cost us $2000 that we were not anticipating. Around the same time we had to put new tires on one of our cars, and that cost us an additional $1000. We have also have had numerous medical expenses from our three children. Since July we have experienced constant financial setbacks, like a perfect storm, that has put all of our utilities behind, resulted in the reposession of a vehicle and the imminent reposession of another. We are in desperate need.
This money will be used to bring all of our bills current. We have until December 15th to bring several of these bills current, including our rent, or we will lose everything. It will mean bringing peace of mind to a struggling veteran and his family. Reaching out like this has been one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do. Seeing my family in such desperate need is even more difficult. We are scraping by on very little, feeding our family meals that are inadiquate. Please, any help will be greatfully appreciated and paid forward at the first opportunity.

Miserable or justified?

On the one hand it sucks for them and I hope they make it out okay, but on the other hand I don't think what they described should put them 3k in the hole. By the way, did they mention Veteran? But hey, easy for me to say since I don't need 3k

I mean that sucks, but that's also life. Everyone has had "the perfect storm" of personal finance

I dont want to discount the importance of safe tires but you spend $1000 on tires when rent and the actual car payment is due?

Also, he says he will pay it forward. How bout paying people back?

Well if your cars are repossessed it's a bad investment anyway. They're in Tennessee, not sure how the roads are.

What are the cars that were repossessed and how many cars do they have?

I'm thinking they were a "live beyond your means" household that got caught. No money!

I'm curious about the car now since I think she got a Mary Kay pink one. I'm predisposed to being suspicious of people who use Facebook to pimp their pyramid schemes on family and friends anyway.

It's never the right time to need to replace a roof or water heater or transmission or a furnace.
I suppose people should prepare for these things better. But they never do.
So many times I go to a call where they're watching a 60 inch tv and have a new beemer but they tell me they cannot afford repairs or ask for a veterans discount or complain that it's not fair that something can't be fixed.
I can't really understand someone with tens of thousands of dollars of credit card debt. I mean I get that medical bills or whatever end up being credit card debt and things like that but really more often than not its luxuries and vacations and the like.
You must always live well below your means so you can handle the "unexpected" (read: things that should be expected but never are like car repairs or a new roof).

A few months ago someone was pleading for money so they could get surgery for their cat because it was raped by a raccoon or something and how they can't afford to pay for it and it will die without it.

I wanted to post "It dying will save you money!" but people for some unexplained reason people like cats and would have gotten mad.

It's funny that you say that. I was having a conversation about this very thing with my wife. I refuse to have any political conversations or post anything controversial on Facebook. It's not so much because I like those people, but rather because doing so seems uncouth, like getting heated over a topic at a dinner party. I don't have such concerns here, and in a certain way, my "friendships"- or whatever they are- with you goofs are more honest and genuine than with many of the people I actually see in person all the time.

I've never seen a reasonable debate on facebook. Not ever. No real reason to ever enter it. It pretty much just makes everyone look dumb.

I really enjoy fun stupid debates anyways. Me and my friends debated Mike Bibby vs. Jason Kidd for years(I was on team Bibby, and I was dead wrong) but we never debated abortion or gay marriage. That isn't possible on Facebook.
