I was tuned in quite a bit as usual this week but did not hear an update as to whether Mac has stayed cigarette free. I heard him say the previous week, that he has steered clear of the cancer sticks since his operation. But I do recall him saying that he was rewarding Jurko with cigars for taking him to and from work-perhaps indulging in a few of those? I hope Mac is able to abstain from the butt's as he would get so much benefit from it-not just better respiratory health and decreased chances for cancer and heart attack (which my own Father died from-thanks in part to smoking) but just think of how much better all the foods that Mac enjoys so much, will taste. All those Jumbo Shrimp and bone-in Rib Eyes's will taste just that much better, without the pallet polluted by all those butts. Has anyone heard anything further about Mac's quest to stay smoke free?

For your sake (Mac) and the sake of your family-I wish you the best in what I know may not be an easy battle.

+1. my godfather finally died after a long long battle with cancer last spring. he faught threw lung cancer to make almost a full recovery, only to discover he had brain tumors. 2 surgeries and much suffering later he passed. smoked for over 20 years.

hope you're still smoke free mac, keep it up.

My Dad went down with emphysema. The last years with the oxygen tanks... were for the birds. The only humorous part is when he and Mom did a trip to LA, and had to take Greyhound (on account of the tanks). He didn't know buses were full of freaks :-) Afterwards, he's shocked, shocked! and I'm just reeling in laughter.

everybody who travels a lot should take greyhound once in thier lives. not only are the busses full of freaks, but the inconviences on air travel as opposed to bussing it is the same "inconvienence" as not having ketchup for your french fries. i took the bus 3 times between chicago and bozeman (1 one way, 1 roundtrip), and though i had homework to keep me busy, it was an awful trip. i mean you cant beat traveling cross country for $150, but ill gladly pay the extra few bucks to fly so i can still shower daily and not have to suffice on gas staion sandwhiches.

Even as a smoker, I can't wait for January 1st. Not because I want to quit or I don't want my clothes to smell like it. No, I can't wait for it because at that time all of the militant non-smokers will have finally gotten their way and can now spare me this type of sanctimonious garbage.

I know it's bad for me. Leave me alone.

it's really not going to be as bad as every smoker thinks it is. the adjustment period will be rough, but it gets better.

FYI: Mac is having trouble posting. he keeps getting the submit/preview window no matter what he does. he can PM (obviously) but that's it.

Yes, I am cig free since the morning of surgery (10/31) when I stood in a parking garage savoring a 'Boro light at 5:45 a.m.

Movies suck for trying to quit. Bogey. Jimmy Stewart. Mickey Rourke. Christopher Walken. Ed Harris. Gabriel Byrne. They just look like they really are enjoying those smokey dogs and I want to, well, join them.

Tom Cerebellum has an awesome suggestion for "Team Of Destiny" talk. Love it.

Yeah, pretty much stay away from any Tarantino picture for a while too.

Wes Anderson's new one, a GREAT upgrade from his last "Life Aquatic" (ugh), "The Darjeeling Limited"--also wouldn't recommend it to anyone who just quit smoking. Probably half of it has characters smoking, and the cigarettes would look most tasty.

You quoted the second sentence, yet somehow chose to ignore it.

I did hear you mention on the air that it was now over 5 weeks without a cigarette. I hope for your sake, that you are able to stick with it and that the withdrawl and cravings go away quicker than Kenny Williams offseason rebuilding plan. Sorry-that was a cheap shot. Bet those Allen Brothers products are tasting even better than ever these days.
