Shocking. I'm going to wait till it's confirmed they're not going to sign him to a 2yr/$15M deal before I throw a party.

A few years ago, yes. But he's on the downturn. I'd rather have Ian Baker-Finch. No more Nationals!

Not that Alexi is the best option, but it's tough to have a hole in Year 2 of their 3 year plan, especially with all of their other holes.

I'm not sure they trust Saladino to be the everyday guy so they'll probably just bring him back. I want Alexei gone but the more I think it just doesn't make sense to sign someone else to be a stopgap until Anderson is ready. Unless they do a Saladino/Sanchez platoon at SS and play Johnson at 2B. My god that's a scary thought.

This whitesox organization has a Bob Pulford vibe to it. Time to fumigate.

That's encouraging.

How can you be unsure of that at this point?

If you are unsure, why would you say that in any public way?

Dysfunctional

What does it matter what direction Hahn wants when Kenny is the one who routes things out?

Horrible.

“As I sit here today, we have had a number of conversations, even as late as this morning, and Rick hasn’t presented to us a definitive direction based on his talks that he wants to travel down,” Williams said Tuesday night, according to MLB.com. “Until he puts on the table what he wants to do, it’s premature for me to comment one way or another on any player or path or anything else because of our process.”

This should be concerning, if true, but I doubt since that's just ridiculous; not to mention, isn't this Year 2 of a made up 3 year plan? If this plan truly exists, I can't see it as not trying to compete.

I think this is Kenny just trying to be secretive.

Would Hahn step down, because Kenny keeps meddling?

I don't think he would flat out step down, but if he were offered another gig I think he might jump ship.

Maybe the great STONE BIGFAN conversation will shed some light on these subjects.

KW has made several public statements over the past year that paint Hahn as incompetent. I don't think Hahn is incompetent. I think KW is a penis.

No. He's still a GM. i don't think he'll be in great demand, for the same role, for another organization.

We also don't know if Kenny is approving of every move, or if he just has to agree, as his boss, with the overall vision that Hahn has,.

I found it funny while listening to B&B a while today that Danny went really hard on how fucked up the Sox front office is with Kenny/Hahn. Sure it is not perfect but he kept trying to egg on the beat reporter (can't recall who maybe Merker or something) into Hahn is a stooge and Kenny is an ass.

This is pretty normal it seems if you look at it. A GM has the job and authority and so on but always has upper pressures no matter what. What Danny was trying to say is that the Cubs are perfect. What he fails to see is that his idol is doing the same thing. Supposedly Jed is the GM is the GM of the Cubs but the "upper" Theo is pulling all the strings and making all the magic.

Why isn't Theo an ass for undercutting his GM or does he only hire a yes man minion?

I demand the truth!

There is absolutely zero similarity between the Cubs and Sox front offices. What is similar is the Sox and Bulls front offices. I think we've seen enough evidence that Rick is GM in title only with Kenny meddling.

That should be heavily criticized.

There's some truth there, but a HUGE difference is that Theo and Hoyer are on the same page.

Of course the difference is that they do not see eye to eye on everything in Soxland. My point is that Danny was acting as if there is no relationship like that in baseball. I am guessing all front office people that have jobs for long run things up the flag pole.

Its not the worst one he has ever come up with but he will frequently find a way to make it a Cub-Sox thing when its not

Also, Im loathe to defend Bernstein but to me it sounds like his criticism is of a front office at odds, not the structure (President and GM)

I actually think since the Cubs beat the Pirates I have kept my Cubs-Sox thing in check pretty well compared to others.
