Something that's bothered me (and I'm sure others) for a long time is the constant self promoting Mike North does on his shows. I'm not talking about plugging sponsors "My GUYS" which is bad enough, but plugging what seems to be his PERSONAL products and web sites.

He is paid by The Score to do a radio show and on that paid time is pitching his personal web site (northtonorth.com) and what seems to be his personal cd at that goofy caucasianman.net site. How and why does the Score allow this? I sell IBM servers for a living and would be in serious trouble if I used my company dollars and time to promote a personal venture with my clients. Can someone explain this to me?

Yes - This is correct. This is similar to when JHood used to promote his website - even if he was guest hosting!

No kidding, advertisers pay big money to get air time and the score allows mike to plug his crap for free. He must have some pics of Rosen.

This is just me hypothesizing, but what seems to happen is that Mike holds such sway at the station, that he can pretty much go out and demand free products or payola up front, saying "I'll get you some airtime for free (or dirt cheap) in return". And these stores, not having ratings books handy, get a little steamrolled in the bargaining process, and give him his free crap. Later on, Mike will go back to Mitch and say..."Oh yeah, we need to run XX spots for so-and-so for nothing", and because North is the tyrant of their little fifedom, they allow it.


I'm almost positive that's what's happened with the Vegas realator, David Spada, JDS Financial, Hill's Hobby Shop....the list goes on and on and on and on...

I listened for the last hour, and it was nothing but an infomercial for that shitty CD. Oh, and a few minutes for Fred's fantasy football picks. Which he prefaced by telling us how shitty he did last week. Boy, that's some quality entertainment! And who in their right mind would be caught dead wearing a Caucasian man t-shirt? I predict some bums will be sporting them, after everyone lucky enough to get one for Christmas gives them to Goodwill.

Last time I checked IBM salesman were not Celebrities! If you and the 10 others were really make up this board were smart you woruld attack the real problem with the show, and not how much people make doing it.

Mike North would be a fool if he did not use all the resourses at his disposal. You bitch about him using his show to promote his web and cd and leave the real issues alone. so this must make you one of those sissys, cry baby wish I had what I dont little guys!

Well, I'm not surprised based on your rambling and mostly incoherent response that you completely missed the point of my post. It has nothing to do with what North WANTS TO DO. It has to do with management ALLOWING him to pitch his personal crap on their listeners on company time/money, which I don't think is right. Let alone the fact that it makes an already terrible show with terrible ratings even worse than it was before. And what the hell does being a "celebrity" (you lost all credibility when using this word to describe Mike North) have to do with hijacking your own radio show to promote personal ventures? NOTHING. You make no sense and are a complete fool.

I don't like the constant advertising either, but why can't some logically disagree without being referred to as suck-ass or 'Mike North' ?
