How so? The pay is the same and the cost of living is probably whacked in half from baton Rouge to Southern California. There is more talent in Louisiana \Texas area .. Better conference in SEC .

You do realize why the cost of living in Baton Rouge is so low, right?

USC is in the team photo of the greatest college football programs in history.

Southern California is kinda dumpy, and they are running out of water very quickly..You would have to double my salary to move there. I don't think USC is in the team photo of College anything. The Big 10 will be the best conference in football next year, Sec next..PAC 10 is pretty weak.

USC is a top program, always has been.
Miami is NOT a top program right now, but was for a long time.
LSU is a top program, has been for a while, but wasn't always.

The weird thing is: USC is fine with their gigantic, off campus, outdated stadium. Part of what is holding Miami back is their gigantic, off campus RENOVATED stadium. The obvious difference being that the population in LA is probably 15x bigger than Miami.

I'm intersted to see what the effect of having an NFL team (or 2) in town is going to have on USC. They've been the only game in town for a while now.

Miami is also historically cheap in paying $ their coaches. The other 2 are not.

Big time college coaches don't care about water supply levels, the "dumpiness" of the surrounding towns (have you been to many college towns?), and saying the B1G is the best conference helps the Miami argument because............?

I cant stand Southern Cali either, but the USC job is still held in high regard and most experts have it ranked as the #1 head coaching job available.
Miami is no longer a top job, but its Miami so they wont have a shortage of candidates.
LSU is certainly a top job and program but it is no USC and never will be.

Miami will send as many or more guys to the NFL than USC this year... There is so much talent in South Florida its disgusting.. A decent coach could be a top 5 program year in-out. A great coach would have them 3-4 titles in 7-8 years..If you ever go on vacation in Florida, grab a newspaper n look at all the div 1 players they have.. Top 500 recruits in the country I bet the state of Florida has as many as Texas or Cali with 1\3 of the population.

I'll take that bet. Set the terms.
We talking just drafted players? Or FA's also?

My favorite part is 312 dismissing So Cal like it's a recruiting desert because the water level is low.
Nope. No recruits there.

What does the overall population numbers have to do with anything?
Texas has the most recruits, not close. By that logic SMU should be a top ten job.

Also, once again -

IF UGA opens up, that's a better job than all of them, probably even USC. But they wouldn't hire certain coaches, IMO.

don't let the ron zook experience scare you off..... getting a retread coach from a SEC school is the way to go.... all it takes is a few suitcases filled with $$$$ and a desire to win. if you wanna see what hoarding your $$$ gets you look no further than the dumpster fire that is 15-16 fighting illini basketball..... yeeeeearrrghhh

Yeah, keep laughing numbnutz. Population California= 40 million ..population Florida = 19 million and that Florida talent is sandwiched in South Florida.. Would you rather sift through 100 lbs of dogshit for a Cnote or 40 lbs for 2 Cnotes?

FACT: this has nothing to do with your previous posts about Miami or USC.

Keep track of your facts.

By this logic Iowa, Nebraska, and all of the plains states should have the best recruiting classes every year.
Your logic is backwards. More population = better athletes.
Unless you think the 1A schools in Illinois have better players than the 8A schools.

After all, I mean, less dogshit to sift through in the Lena/Winslow/Pearl City Co-Op program than in Naperville or Lincoln-Way.

You brought up total population, in a football discussion.
Not sure why.

Come on Brick. Stop.
The only good thing about Miami is the state it resides in.

Two far superior programs in the state. A reportedly terrible fan base even when they are good. Bad facilities. Sky high expectations built around blatant cheating. A salary that doesn't equal the expectations. You still have to compete with the whole SEC for those Florida recruits.

Understanding that Illinois is currently a mess, but the pay is equal or better than Miami. The expectations are far lower. When good, you get a higher profile(See MSU, Iowa) than Miami. There is no reason that Illinois couldn't be the next Iowa or MSU with a long time coach having great success.

Michigan and Ohio State are historically dominant programs that would take decades of success to match.

I don't think you took it the right way though. Both Iowa and MSU have been middle of the pack teams that have runs where they are great to elite. The right coach at Illinois could do it. They've played in a few BCS bowls already.

There are zero reasons aside from the outgoing athletic administration why Illinois could not be Iowa.

I get that Illinois having a good run is more likely, but I don't think it is very likely. They have shown no ability to be able to get things together. And for that fact I do not think Illinois is or will ever be a better job than Miami.
