I read off and on, sometimes there would be insight in how crime is counted and maybe some inter-department gossip. Lots of hating on the Superintendent and Mayor which can be entertaining too. A lot of other times it's low-rate #TCOT lukewarm takes.

You'd think this would maybe bring something interesting out of them, maybe about rumors of misconduct or a cover-up or even just what the shooting review process is like. Or good cops (....) doing whatever.

Instead:

before the video: complain that they shouldn't release it, and it probably doesn't show anything that bad
after the video: No mention of what's actually there. 'there's plenty to discuss' but then they don't discuss it. Complain about easy targets like a CNN anchor making a live read and Mary freakin' Mitchell pushing 'narrative'. Oh, and don't forget what about the outrage about other stuff?

So yeah, pretty worthless. Stick to the second amendment 'struggle' and benghazi. D'Baging myself for thinking they'd have more.

drop out of HS -> get GED -> go (dont really have to go) to Wilbur Wright for two years and pass (with barely C's) your classes (weekly checkups to make sure you have a pulse) -> academy -> CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER

What I'm saying is dont expect these guys to pump out the great American novel anytime soon.

I just read you saying not to fall into this trope in another thread

One of the central themes of Second City Cop is that while cops shouldn't be above the law, they shouldn't be held to any higher standard either. To anyone who isn't a cop or a cop's relative this idea is patently absurd. Of course we should hold those who are granted enormous power in order to provide us protection to a higher standard than the criminals he is supposed to be protecting us from. Someone said exactly that in one of the other threads.

If you read that blog and all the comments that obviously come from cops and their family members you're going to have a very difficult time making an argument that there are actually good cops. The police are a government-sanctioned gang with an "us vs. them" mentality and if you aren't a cop, you're "them".

I used to read it a lot but got bored. same shit all the time. complain complain. and they DO have a lot to complain about, but it bored me after a while. of course you had some moronic comments here and there. Overall, the vibe of the place never really bothered me that much. I like cops in general. typically not "big thinkers" like we have around here.

You are obviously ill informed. The vast majority of officers hired today have 4 year degrees and hiring is based upon the scores applicants get on their written exam, physical testing, as well as background investigation and psychological evaluation. The dopes that barely got through High School or went the GED route.....their chances are slim and none.

Joe Orr....I agree with you about Police Officers being held to a higher standard. As a Police Officer there is no doubt that you know the law and when you break it, you do so knowing you are committing a crime.

That kind of deep thinking can only be the product of a 4 year degree.

He might have a point. I mean, if one lunges in any direction, he IS lunging toward a cop... somewhere in the world.

Substitute Oakton for Wright, fail for pass, (fail the) academy (test) and SCORE HOST for CHICAGO POLICE OFFICER and you have Goff's exact resume.
