Taking Shaq over who? I'm not taking Shaq over Duncan or Kobe in their prime.

The argument became look at how big he is. He is supposed to do that. Shaq dominated the league during that pd. Phil Jackson understood that more than anyone.

I would roll with Duncan at his peak over Shaq though it's a tough call. Kobe is a non starter. I don't take Kobe over Grant Hill or McGrady in their prime. Before the injuries he didn't want to see either of those guys. Only thing he has on them is longevity as an individual player.

Shaq all day everyday.

He was underrated in his time, too.

That's another thing. Nobody remembers young Orlando Shaq who was still athletic and could run

When did Shaq become underappreciated? No doubt hall of famer with five rings and a secure legacy as one of the best over? Doesn't sound like he's not appreciated. Plus it's true that he was fat and lazy at times. He's admitted as such in his books. He started winning when he got back in shape with Phil. When people point out he could have done more, they are underscoring his greatness, not underestimating it.

Well, both got pretty much dominated in the same era as the accepted greatest of all time.

That's a little bit unfair for Shaq though since he was still young at the time.

Shaq gets crap I think because many think like me about him. I think he was simply a bruiser at LSU and early in Orlando. Took him some time to get better at basketball and in better shape. I learned to appreciate him but he didn't have a fully great total career. That and free throws pisses me off. No reason a million dollar player cannot get better at that if they cared.

How? MJ has six rings and Russell has ten. Seems like a good starting point for GOAT.

Yikes! More terrible Kobe hate.

Not sure about that. Jordan ducked out for Hakeem's best shot to meet him in the finals

Where was Hakeem the other 6 years Jordan won titles by himself?

Starving himself for Ramadan and still dominating.

He never ran into Jordan unfortunately

So he couldn't even beat the teams that Jordan beat?

Bad matchup. Those Rockets teams killed the Bulls. I'm glad we never saw them in the Finals.

Obviously we don't know but the Bulls didn't matchup well with them and we saw that every season.

We heard that about a lot of teams from the other conference, until Jordan single handedly destroyed them.

I thought the Utah matchup was tough too. We'll never know and I'm happy about that.

Jordan ran away for Hakeem's two best years. Not Hakeem's fault.

ANd destroyed is a bit much. Mostly 6 game series

Let's assume that Jordan loses those two series to Hakeem which is questionable at best.

It's still 6-2.

I agree with Nas that it was a bad matchup, and Hakeem is a top 10 all time guy, but Jordan never lost in the Finals. I wouldn't bet against him, would you?
