into The Contortionist right now. Sort of like a soft version of Animals as Leaders guitarish with Tool vocal undertones.

It's a little Djent-ey, Prog-ey...at times, which I like. Noodle guitar with aggressive downbeat stuff.

I've been listening to the Sirius Outlaw Country station a lot lately. They've been playing this song "Sixteen Angels" by Chip Taylor and John Prine a lot. It's like a mini songwriting clinic, just two guys sitting down with guitars and making shit up as they go.

Chip Taylor is an interesting motherfucker. The guy wrote "Angel of the Morning" and "Wild Thing". Could there possibly be a more versatile songwriter? And he's Angelina Jolie's uncle. That's a major body of work right there.

So Chip wrote "Angel of the Morning" and Prine wrote "Angel from Montgomery" and here they are singing about angels again. I couldn't find the song on the Internet, but here's another great one, "Fuck All the Perfect People". I'm not talking 'bout you:

It isn't my favorite Tame Impala album, but they are legit. Definitely one of the top 50 albums of the year, as that one Rolling Stones list had it. Top 10, even.

Past Life is a song I listened to and didn't think I'd like that first time...but damnit, it is a good song. I don't know what about it is so well done...but it just is well done. Hard to explain.
