Out of town, need info.

Bears having anyone "visit" HH today that can kick a FG? or kick out of the endzone? Maybe Dr. Feelgood?

Robert Loggia knew a thing or two about kickers.

Football Outsiders does a Special Teams power ranking based on Field Goals, Kickoffs, Punts, Kick Returns and Punt Returns (no, they do not include your precious onside kicking stats, you know who you are.) Based on kickoffs, the Bears are giving up 17.5 more yards to the team than the league average, by far the league's worst. The 2nd worst looks like Green Bay at 7 yards. In every other stat, they are are ahead or relatively close to the league average, but just doing terrible at kickoffs. They can use a guy who can kick it out of the end zone.

Gould's value was accuracy. WAS

Yeah, he missed and it sucks. But this is an overreaction to seek another kicker out. Clearly, Gould over-kicked on the attempt. The same thing happens when you try to hit a golf ball too hard. And let's not forget there is no Patrick Mannelly kick-snapping for Gould anymore. He had the best in Bears history for a long-time, where he never had to worry about the snap.

For Gould to miss back-to-back kicks in his range is a 4 or 5 sigma event for his career. Mean reversion suggests he will be fine for the rest of the season.

Batting .666 for a kicker over last 6 games.

Hmmmm,

Not kicking into Endzone

not aksing to be replaced this week, but to be sitting around just hoping he gets better is our job. The GM's job is bring in better people who MAYBE you need start looking at.

I did say Trade him earlier this year.

Once again. GOULD a found Kicker doing construction. You can find a kicker!

Agreed.

Should have had 2-3 kickers in camp this week.

Lousy management.

After today, cut Gould and bring in someone else to finish the season and audition for next season.

Players need to be held accountable.

Bears should have had Kickers in camp in pre season given the terrible season that gould had last year. Pace doesn't seem to have much patience with players so let's hope he drops the bomb on Robbie Monday.

1. They should have traded him during the year! His value was exceptionally high and once again....REBUILDING IS OK TO ADMIT!

2. Anyone that thinks this guy was something special forgets he was nothing. he was hammering nails on a construction site, he wasnt even brought into camp. Find a Kicker is the point! You can do it, Gould is evidence of it. You dont need to make him the highest paid kicker in the NFL

3. Bring in other kickers....unless at this point you dont care if you win and thats the feeling I now have. Better draft pick time!

Yup, because cutting him now gets you into the playoffs

Let him go after the season.

It's not about the playoffs.

It's sending a message that when you don't do your job you get cut.

 Who was going to trade anything for a high-priced kicker, no matter how accurate he has been through his career?

You just kind of destroyed your own point you were trying to make there

Who you gonna bring in this late in the season who will make any real difference? You gonna pull one over the other 31 teams for next season?

Look, there are about 12 other reasons why the Bears fucked themselves out of a playoff spot, all before Gould started his serial missing last week. To make him the scapegoat for how this season is turning out is just plain meatbally.

I would like to see the prior evidence of a kicker being cut to send a message to the rest of the team

Any employee who is bad at his job should be replaced. The worst thing any organization in any business can do, is to keep someone who isn't getting the job done. Right now robbie is about the worst kicker in the NFL.

Pitt needed a kicker early. Saints needed a kicker. That's 2.

Now you should be bringing in kickers to look at so u know what you might have.

Of course winning is no longer the focus, but in a league that makes it tough to stay under the cap, our kicker uses too much cap space for too little kicking

Maybe so, but cutting him isn't "sending a message". HE IS A KICKER!!!

You wanna cut someone to send a message? Send Jay packing.

The bold defines my argument, and the cap space takes care of itself when you allow him to depart after this season.

Yet they do, all the time. Even though you live in a fantasy world where government is the only inefficient employer, there are politics and hurdles to distributing talent, and all organizations keep many employees who don't get the job done.

But, as not to turn this into some thread about political views, I will digress...

Robbie Gould had made more field goals than anyone in the NFL this year (26) and was at 83.9% today before today's game. That places him at 18th in the league for all kickers who have attempted more than 15 field goals (and this has been an exceptional year for FG kickers). It also places him at about 1.5% less than his career average of 85.397%, which is good for 9th best in NFL history.

Additionally, nothing he does this year matters because this team is going nowhere; but it won't stop people for blaming him for the collapse of the season. I mean, I'm sure it's Robbie Gould's fault that the Bears lost in consecutive weeks, at home, to two bad NFC teams.

If anything, I agree they should have tried to shop him to a team that has a terrible kicker because they won't compete this year and may not next year. They wouldn't have gotten much (because kickers rarely matter much) for him, but it might have been worth a 5th or 6th rounder just to take a stab at someone.

Basically, everything you wrote is either hyperbole or wrong.
