Wow. Castro replaces Jeter. One year removed. But still, that's gonna be pressure that a guy like him won't be able to handle. Fans will get on him more in NY for his mental lapses than the Cubs fans did. Not a good spot for him.

Or am I wrong? Do the Yankees plan to play him at shortstop?

Looks like a halfway decent reliever. more than I thought he would bring.

Warren is coming of a 2.2 WAR in a swing role with a FIP of 3.59 and an xFIP of 3.96.

I'll take that any day of the week.

I wonder of Theo or Jed negotiated this. Either way, we looked good doing it.

Brendan Ryan??? Is this to make Ross feel like he isn't the worst hitter on the team? Do not want.

I think they may have an option on a Rule 5 eligible guy or Ryan but yea, he is bad.

Yeah, I don't understand why they would want him in the deal. Sure hope he doesn't make the team.

CUBS ACQUIRE
Adam Warren, rhp
Age: 28

Drafted out of North Carolina in the fourth round in 2009, Warren blossomed in 2013 as a member of a strong bullpen. His fastball, which sat 90-93 as a starter, was touching the mid-90s out of the bullpen and he paired that with a hard slider that has cutter action, a circle change which has slight armside fade, and a knuckle curve. After pitching primarily out of the bullpen in 2013-14, he made 17 starts in 2015 as the Yankees sustained several rotation injuries, and general manager Brian Cashman had said Warren would come to spring training as a starter. His groundball rate has been consistent the past three seasons at about 45 percent, and his hard contact percentage was a career-low 24.5 percent despite a career high in innings. He could compete for the back end of the Cubs rotation, which was just upgraded by John Lackey’s addition, or compete for the setup man role.

Definitely an upgrade to the bullpen.

Traded a 25 year old all star short stop for a middle of the road middle relief pitcher and you all are celebrating.

And signing guys on the wrong side of 30.

RPB is correct. Good.moves for 2016....VERY risky beyond that.

He reads like another Hendriks but it adds pitching depth.

He's a reliever coming off a 2.7 WAR season, jimmy. He's not a worthless bum.
