This one was at least from out about 50 yards ... Robbie typically makes those, but I don't know what the league average is; doubt it's any better than he is.

Smart teams get rid of players before they are washed up. Robbie sucked last year and the Bears hung on 1 year too long. I fully expect Pace to pull the plug on Gould this week.

Agreed Gould should be cut before next week's game but in the grand scheme of things, draft position is more important than this meaningless game.

Why? What kicker you gonna get for the rest of the season that's gonna kick the team into the playoffs?

Again, not Gould's fault they lost - shouldn't have gotten to the point to have had to rely on him for a 50-yard FG on a wet, rainy field to stay in the game. Defense was most;y shitty other than the Fuller INT.

Gase may be a wunderkind in getting the most out of mediocre talent, but the timing on some of his play calls is the wet, bubbly shits. Again, that screen call on 3rd and ten with 6 minutes left was inexcusable.

Well yeah, it's too late now, but the Bears might be in the play-offs if they started the year with a different kicker. Teams shouldn't tolerate lousy performance from a player regardless of their draft position and whether they're in the playoffs or not. Pace seems to have a short leash for players which is good.

No. The Bears are a bad team losing games the way bad teams do.

Don't fool yourself. Keeping games close through conservative play calling is a recipe for losing to other bad (or worse) teams. Sure you may feel better when you lose a close one to a good team or squeeze out a victory over a struggling Packers but look at who they've played since week 4. A whole lot of bad.

You keep repeating these talking points every week but fail to see how the Bears were a bad team only last year, and that the 5-7 wins or whatever they'll end up with this year is indeed evidence of progress. They went from national laughingstock (the defense was the butt of every NFL joke just this last summer) to respectability in just one season.

Yeah, they're at every road game I've ever attended. The most was in Green Bay, which makes sense. I'm guessing our trip to MN next year will yield a larger group. I didn't have the balls to wear my Washington Zubaz, but I did see a guy sporting them.
