I dont know if it will live up to the original, since new-guy doesn't seem .0000001% as charasmatic as Will Smith, but it looks great. 20 years seems to have taken its toll on President Bill Pullman.

I liked the first one when I was a kid but recently watched it again and realized what a steaming pile of shit it is.

That first one was one of the more disappointing summer blockbuster experiences I have had

i find that sad. i had the complete opposite experience. it was a blast. everything from the "x-files" reference in the beginning (since i was a huge nerdfan of the show) to the uploading of a computer virus, and the speech...my friends and i loved it and the crowd was great. everybody applauded at the end.

My favorite scene is when nerd jew guy is all drunk and can't figure out how to get the alien spacecraft's forcefields down and then his dad sneezes and nerd jew all of a sudden goes "That's it! A cold!" and now he's sober again and has it all figured out. Get the fuck outta here with that.

Bad movie. Fun bad? I'll allow it. Nothing more.
