Actually, its not. Beardown has a lot of reaches, but this is definitely curious behavior on Goff's part unless something is not being told.

I mean can you imagine any other host doing this for any other show?

Spiegel and his kid were at Hub's Bears pregame remote yesterday morning.

If any other host did it, we'd be asking what the hell they are doing there so often and making fun of him and saying he lives for sports radio and probably showers at the station like Grobber

And btw, Dan Bernstein would be the FIRST one to question that behavior.

Were they going to the game?

The kid might like it, I could see it.

Hell, I could see doing what Jason does once in a while. If its a frequent thing though it's kinda odd, imo.

Add in listening to Laurence on a friday night and you have a guy who lives sports radio

Which is fine. He's into his job.

He's like Grobber or Schuster or any of the other lifers. He's just not middle aged, white and nerdy.

I caught Laurence on my drive back from Winfield yesterday. The sac-licking was off the charts. Seemingly every caller opened with "Love hearing you, Laurence. You're the best host on any station in this city."

I'm guessing Hub was babysitting while Spiegel went to go play poker.

The guy is single with a job that ends at 1 pm on a Friday. It is tough to find people to drink with you during the day.

The only reason you would drink with giggles would be if he were buying.

The only reason. And even then, you couldn't take much. Imagine how giggly he would be after a few drinks?

It will be interesting to see if that is the case. Because it is certainly something that has been discussed. Especially since the ratings have fallen during what is usually the best books of the year.

Yep. Its essentially the same thing as the listener who calls into the 3 different shows everyday. We know hoe B&B feel about those guys but I guess its different and something not to be made fun of when one of their own does it.

I think the enjoyment of laughing at Goff goes away when you realize that most of us spend Friday afternoons posting on a Chicago sports message board instead of drinking for free with friends.

I'd say Goff wins this battle.

In that case, most of us don't have Friday afternoons off, unless we are a useless job like a salesman or housewife.

And many of us probably make more money. Its not a discussion of job satisfaction. It's what you do with your free time.

I usually wouldnt opt to spend my free time with work people even if it was an open bar.

But maybe this is Goff tryiing to get a rapport with listeners and he considers it work. More power to him.

Can you imagine the beating Spiegel or Hanley would take if they were doing this?

You are making this way bigger than it is. He's friends with the people that are working, and probably friends with some of the listeners that go. He probably hangs out with them after the show too, though I'm guessing the hosts don't stick around long.

If your friend was a bartender, wouldn't you sometimes go visit them at work if you had the afternoon off? That's all he is doing.

No, that's another bad analogy unless I also work at the bar.

Im not making it a big deal. If it was announced that Speigel or Schuster showed up at the last 3 B and B remotes, people here would be making fun of them, dont you think?

And again, its not even a huge deal. But if it were anyone else doing it, Bernstein would be KILLING them with condescending open questions.

I'll let Beardown respond to your ridiculous notion that Bernstein would opt to hang out at a bar with Goff and listeners after a remote, as it is his specialty

They'd still be having a better Friday afternoon than most of us. That's all I'm saying.

I used to hang out towards the end of my friends shifts at Blockbuster before we went out. It beat sitting at home.

Had the radio on the Score this morning and could've sworn they said the Spiegel-Goff show was on remote this coming Thursday and that Spiegs and a guest host would be there. Thought it was interesting that Goff wouldn't be working his own show's remote. Perhaps he has shit at the crib going on later that evening or something.

During tranny Terry said something about getting drunk during Super Bowl week and Goff said he may head out to San Fran to "hang wich y'all". Terry seemed surprised that he would do that.

Terry's reaction was spot on. It is something with Goff. To talk like Larry, Goff really, really, really loves Boers and Bernstein. I think he wants to rekindle some of the fun they had back in the day when he would go on trips with The B&B show. But man, a trip to SF is gonna cost at least a couple of grand. Can't you just wait to rekindle the good ole days at Bears camp this summer?

Sometimes in tranny you get the sense that Goff wants to slug Spiegel and run back to the B&B side. He longs for the days where he could team up with Berntsein to rip Spiegel. Now he has to pretend to like him.

He worked with the B&B folks a long time. They are his friends. Is it really a problem?

Yes. It's a huge problem. No person should love B&B as much as Goff. Not even family of B&B. Certainly no black person should love them as much as Goff seeing as though they are racists. Well, certainly Bernstein and most likely Terry.

Maybe he should hate Bernsie but isn't smart enough to know he is a token with him. Terry may have grown up in racist times like some of us but I doubt he is now. Terry may be a lot of things but he was and likely still is a genuine friend to Mac and I bet Goff and Drinky as well.

Goff to Bernstein is like a battered wife to her husband. He can't leave him. Cuz I think Goff deep down knows Bernstein is racist. Maybe it's like he wants to change him like so many women with their abusive husbands. Something like that. But Goff absolutely covets and needs Bernstein's approval. No doubt about that.

Still, taking a vacation and spending 2 or 3k to hang out with them in SF is a pretty strong obsession.
