Couldn't they just take them w/o blowing up the White House?

Possibly but they seemed organized. They probably have a routine they stick to on each planet.

They probably had to sell this back home. Good optics.

The land invasion was key for them. Disrupting the governments was vital.

I'm actually ok with this...he probably had a contractual requirement that Jaden would appear as his step-son and Willow would be allowed to do all the music.

There is apparently a website that gives some sort of "between the 2 movies" type stories, and I guess the Captain Steven Hiller story is that he's blown up testing a hybrid of the alien/human technology in 2007.

The rumor is Will Smith asked for $50 million to do 2 sequels.

To all you thick headed trogs incapable of digesting information broadcast to your puny, insignificant brains by way of a inescapably captivating screen...

In the Independence Day universe humans gained understanding of computer technology from the Roswell crash. So really Microsoft Windows would have easily been compatible with the technology that inspired it. Maybe if you all weren't so catastrophically fucking stupid you'd give Independence Day 2 the chance it deserves instead of making smart ass comments on the CSFMB.

I thought the trailer looked direct-to-video horrible.

If there is one movie franchise that should be able to get away with this it is the one that defined the genre.

There may be an age thing at play here. Independence Day was my favorite movie for years but I was 14 when it came out.

By the way, here is the link from the trailer. http://www.warof1996.com/ This site may be better than the trailer.

Rick gets it. Him and I are the same age. In BadRogue years this is 15.

maybe you are twins, separated at birth by a mother who couldn't care for you. Your adoptive parents have never revealed this to you. You should seek each other out.

Perhaps you're right. Maybe my wheelchair didn't provide a good angle of viewing and my hearing aids were both on the fritz. Those were also the days before the super-silent dialysis machines.

But, all that aside, I still enjoyed the original quite a bit.

i think it's a waste...this is a reunion. he was starting to be marketable but ID4 propelled him into major film stardom (apart from his TV/rap artist fame). it was pretty much that film that got him the lead in MiB the following year. it would've been great to see him and goldblum reunite, they made a great buddy duo in the first film.

it's a shame if it was about the money. it's even worse if it wasn't.

The excuse is that he already did the father/son thing in "After Earth".

Smith is a falling star nowadays and maybe he thought a sequel would do further damage?
