I have the completely unfounded suspicion that a Frazier deal gets done, with the Reds convinced to get rid of him and now trying to get the best offer. I hope the Sox stand firm on not giving up Anderson/Fulmer.

There are a lot of question marks in Frazier moving to the AL and out of Cincinnatti. I wouldn't pay for him as if you are getting the 30 HR, above average defender that he is in Cincy.

Watch. Frazier will follow the pattern of Dunn and LaRoach.

Another god damn white that absolutely sucks once they get here.

You do have to feel for the guy. By all accounts he does everything right, playing all-star ball for a reasonably respected franchise. Wakes up 10 days before X-Mas and finds out he's traded to the fucking White Sox. I'm thinking of when Dustin Byfuglien as traded to Winnipeg but not quite.

Yeah, but c'mon. You'd rather live in Cincinnati than Chicago? Have you been there?

What the hell you talking about man?

Going from the world champion blackhawks to the Jets is not even close to going from the Reds who have been awful to the White Sox

Yea you know he's bummed. Half empty park, etc.

But you never know. The Sox could make a run at it but seem to be an 80-85 win team which won't win a WC or Central title.

They should have moved Sale & Quintana for a haul and started a rebuild but Uncle Jerry won't allow it and you know Kenny couldn't handle that either.

Wonder if he got vetoed when Thompson was included in the deal??

Sox could win 94 games and still draw 1.4 million.

I wonder what their all time attendance record is? Probably a year or two after the new park opened.

The city itself notwithstanding (never been to Cinci), in terms of overall baseball destinations, I would think Cincinnati is at or near the top 10. White Sox bottom 5? Seems like he's been to the playoffs a couple times under Dusty's tutelage.

You Cubs fans just can't deal with the Sox stealing headlines and having yet another terrific off season.

Papelbon had the Sox in his 5 teams that he can't be traded to, its an undesirable destination.

So they acquired Frazier. For 3 spare parts, without giving up any of the top prospects. Good move, Hahn.

I think its a good move in the scheme of things. You can go back and read every post I wrote that I thought they would keep going for it with Sale and Abreu, plus...Jerry is no spring chicken.

All that said, now Thompson, Frank and Micah are "spare parts", because lotsa talk about these guys making an impact on the Sox team and elevated the youth and future?

I am making no qualifiers if they are goig to be good, but I dont think one Sox fan called them Spare parts until now.

....and if anyone still thinks Hahn is acting as the GM after this trade, well, then you havent been following soem other team named the Sox.

Montas was the Sox' third to fifth best prospect, depending on publication.

Montas was #3

3. Frankie Montas (RHP)

4. Micah Johnson (2B)

8. Trayce Thompson (OF)

but the system supposedly sucked

I wouldn't go as far as calling them spare parts.

I had hope for Montas to be a difference maker down the road.

Trayce was battling to make the MLB team this year at the age of 24 but is most likely a 4th OF or platoon person.

Johnson has exciting speed but now a history of leg injuries. I think he will be able to hit at the MLB level but his defense is unrefined for an older type of prospect.

They gave up talent. They got talent back.

Yesterday, the great INQUISITOR copied Phil Rogers tweet about how much the Sox paid to get Frazier. Cubs fans gonna Cub fan.
Quote:
Phil Rogers ‏@philgrogers
White Sox pay heavily for 2 years of Todd Frazier-- Frankie Montas, Trayce Thompson and Micah Johnson, according to @JonHeymanCBS
I wonder if Rogers thought that giving Heyward $180 million and Lackey $30 million was "paying heavily"

bigfan wrote:

Again, Cubs fans gonna Cub Fan. I don't think one Sox fan said any of those three players was anything to build around either.

This trade is a further indication of how bad Ventura is as a manager. In September, Thompson should have been starting every single game in the OF. He was as hot as he had ever been in his professional career, and his stock was only going to go up with more playing time.
