It's telling that people have such high expectations of this and are still coming away happy.

this movie's such a bomb it's already made almost half of its budget in one night and still has fri-sun and zero competition.

Great film. Abrams has breathed life into that dried husk which Lucas left after the prequels. Disney must be ecstatic.

Yes; the one that "drops his blaster".

During the unusual sequence Rey goes through, apparently via some digital editing trickery the person that's yelling her name is Alec Guinness!

You can hear it here at 0:58.

Great or Not Great, predictions range anywhere from $2.6B to $3 B in Gross revenue from the Movie Alone. While I am not judging the cinematic criteria here. Tough to call it a bust.

probably the worst prediction (but it is dignified rube we're talking about) outside of beardown's annual bears predictions or nas's game day predictions.

It was never going to bomb financially. If anyone thought that was a possibility they aren't too bright.

The real question has always been whether or not it would bomb substantively. based on track record it seemed like a pretty good chance it would. Great to hear that isn't the case.

The movie got only 2 1/2 stars from the New York Post. The critic blasted it.

Like I said, a bomb. All hype.

The junk dealer that paid people in food 'portions' was a costumed Simon Pegg.

I'm probably okay with Craig being a Stormtrooper in each movie, like a low-key running gag.

Is it worth the extra cash to see it in 3-D? It seems like the kind of movie that would be made for it but I haven't heard any discussion on that aspect.

Can't tell ya ... saw it for $7.50 on a no-frills regular screen at matinee time ... didn't feel like anything was lacking to me.

I saw it in 2D but I'm thinking I will check out the IMAX 3D for my second viewing. I've heard that Abrams is not a huge fan of 3D, so I'm thinking they didn't go to any great lengths to make it that much better. From some online discussions elsewhere, they may be one or two notable "popout" scenes where you notice the 3D.

I saw it in 3D. Not sure how much different the experience is but it was pretty cool.
