Fuck you, George. You got your 4 billion. White slave owners bought it? So that makes you a 4 billion dollar slave? And you fucked up the last 3 movies you did anyway.

Lucas can suck it. He absolutely killed Indiana Jones with that shit fuck Skulls movie and goofy cute helpful monkeys and stupid ass refrigerator. Ever read what he was going to do originally with Arnold Toht? He was supposed to be a cyborg with a laser eye and a robot arm that could transform into a flamethrower. Yeah. Lucas. Dipshit.

He can feel better by bathing in 100-dollar bills every day for the rest of his life and still being a billionaire.

He chose to sell it. Don't blame the guy who bought it.

Well, he didn't buy an island. He bought the Soldier Field parking lots for that. So now the hike to the stadium will be more of a bitch for Bears fans.

Why do you even care? It's a 35 year old movie that wasn't even that good after the first installment. Lucas has laughed all the way to the bank for years, taking money from saps that go to see his shitty product and buy his plastic toys and video games. It's not real, will never be real, and to those who are religious minded, it's anti-God.

Except for two films, the original Star Wars and American Graffiti, Lucas has been a failed director. He's no genius, just a guy who got lucky with a space concept that had been paved for by Star Trek and Flash Gordon.

Any artist, no matter the medium, who CHOOSES to sell off their creation's rights and then bitch about the eventual sour outcome is a total fool. Like others stated above; "What did you expect, George?"

True artists are very different and independent creatures who put every ounce of effort, concern and emphasis on the creation itself - period. That being said, plain and simple - George Lucas screwed up royally. Nothing left to do but let it go and try to enjoy the extreme wealth... not a judgment - he's earned every penny. His mistake was putting the money relevance above the creation, IMO.

He sold out his life's work to the Corporate Devil. Sure, he's earned billions and his grandchildren's grandchildren will be forever grateful. Was it worth it? Maybe? Maybe not? Only George Lucas will know for sure. From several reports, he sounds like he regrets it.

Just wait until the eventual product placement is introduced into this franchise. C-3PO and R2-D2 being repaired with WD-40. Chewbacca using L'oreal tangle free hair products. OxiClean Whitener for the Stormtroopers. Duracell Quantum batteries keeping the lightsabers powered up. Oh, and of course, Coke & Pepsi will be throwing money at Disney to be the official soft drink of the galaxy.

The guy that brought us Jar Jar Binks is mad about how Disney approached his product?

As long as I'm critical of things you seem to value, it's the angry guy treatment. But when I show the love, like toward North, it's mock Rube time.

You're sensitive about Star Wars, at your age? I give you the same answer Shatner gave to the Comic-con people on SNL, 'Get a Life.'

He's just upset because no one said "yippie" in the new movie.

Right on. As I've said before he is best kept in the background giving out ideas and story and all that. He should not be allowed to direct...ever. He needs an editor and "No-Men" to keep in check and take his best ideas and use them while taking his bad ideas (as we see with Arnold Toht) and burning them in a tire fire. He originally wanted The Last Crusade to take place in a haunted castle...and so many, many more. A New Hope was terrible until it was chopped up and made watchable.

I was reading about his "interactions" with LucasArts game studios and he would come in, not pay attention, and then just start to change whole things about a game that was, at the time, half way through development. He was sitting at the table in a conference room, saw two clay renderings of (what was supposed to be the main protagonist and antagonist) gets up (Stopping the whole meeting) looks at the models and says, "These two are friends now." He then wanted them to be named "Darth Insanius" and Darth Icky" or something insane.

He's like a child.

In a way. The new movie while awesome was more of a reboot then a new extending story. I suspect they needed to do that in order to set the stage to move forward but the parallels to EP IV were very obvious.

In a way, yes...but other than the stupid new Death Star, I didn't think the parallels were that pronounced. (Though I would have preferred to see less Carrie Fisher, who was basically useless.)

I'd say the answer will depend where the next movie goes. Until then I'm comfortable taking this movie as both an on-purpose homage as well as a opening a path to somewhere new.

That said, what a ballbaby bitch he is for saying a lot of that.

Im not coming out in support of George Lucas the man or even the movie maker. Im just saying he has a point.

Im sure whoever you deem worthy to make that judgment would agree.

Movie franchises need to have a common theme that binds them. Otherwise, they are just a collection of random stories.

For this franchise, it is the choice between good and evil and the use of the force that exists in it.

That's fine. But there is a lack of creativity in the story, right?

From what I know (and Im just a casual fan) this movie was essentially a remake of the first one with a girl. Not just common themes.

as far as the story goes, there was never anything original about any of the "star wars" movies. they were always derivative. but still brilliant.

Ok, Im hearing different. Lots of people saying they essentially remade Episode 4.

That's pretty much what "Creed" did with the original "Rocky" and I'm a fan so I loved it. I understand loving it even if it has a lack of creativity.

I'm a casual fan too but they simply shared a lot of similar themes.

It's pretty common though in franchises for the characters to have experiences that mirror the previous ones.

The devolution of the bad guys over each trilogy is the most disturbing part of Star Wars to me.

I started out with Darth Vader, the baddest guy in the universe and possibly the most memorable evil character in the history of film. My children get some Marfan syndrome George Muresan look alike who stars on Girls in his off time. The voice of Vader is the voice of god. Kylo Ren's voice strikes fear in no one. General's mock Vader and he chokes out a bitch. General's mock Ren and he destroys a bathroom with his light saber.

You are right but in a sense that is the new story. Ren is not yet as dark side as he may become.

No kidding. He gets his ass kicked by a chick who only discovers her Jedi powers like 5 minutes before the fight. Kylo Ren is a wuss.
