Figured what the hell and signed up for the test in a few weeks. I figure if I just bone up on my Shakespeare in the meantime, I should do okay. There's Shakespeare like three times a week and I disgrace my AP BritLit past every damn time.

You see the guy claim the Crimson Tide was Auburn's nickname? Oof.

I wonder what Julie would make of the fact that 9 of the top 10 all time money winners are male?

I always take the online test, when it's offered. It's much harder than any episode on TV.

I figure it's way way way tougher on air. Hitting the buzzer while trying to think of the answer at the same time is what separates the boys from the Ken Jennings of the world.

For sure. I tried it about ten years ago and it laid waste to me.

Sorry, the answer was "WHERE is SHARK?", as he is basically no longer a member. You still have control of the board...

My cousin and I went thru a phase texting Jeopardy "answers" to each other, based on stupid in jokes between us. Good stuff.

Loved the SHARK reference, especially the "...but you still control of the board."

That would be great. We could wear White Sox gear the entire show. I bet the Sox would even sponsor us.

I took the online test last year and it was bad. Real bad. But I'm a genius when playing at home unless certain art styles or jazz is a subject.

This also reminds me of another thread on here from awhile back about vocal fry. I mean to comment in that thread about a recent female champion who had seriously annoying vocal fry going on when responding to the answers.

I can't tell you how badly I wanted the other two contestants to beat her. Beat her with a tire iron, that is.

I was talking purely about the difficulty of the questions. Obviously, being on the stage, under the lights, is a different animal.

Yeah, I was NEAR TEAR the first time I took the test because it was so much harder than anything on the show. It gave me a new respect for even the contestants who make the show but shit the bed: they definitely knew their stuff to get there in the first place, they just wound up having poor signalling, wilted under the studio lights, or ran into a buzzsaw of an opponent.

One of my high school math teachers made it on the show once. He was a cool teacher but a little strange. He would eat pieces of chalk during class.

What, like he ate whole sticks of chalk as like a stunt, or he tried to sneak in a couple little nibbles when he thought no one was looking? Important questions here.

I think he did it more as a shock factor to keep people interested in algebra. He would take bites off full sticks occasionally. I looked him up and he was on the show back in 2008.
I was a little surprised he was still teaching but I guess he was a pretty young guy when I had him in the early 90s.

I had a friend who took the test 3 times made it all the way to meeting Alex. Alex did not like the look of him. He was a short rotund tattooed Hispanic gentleman. I still think my one friend from high school should do it.
