I voted under but apparently didn't post it. Who cares.
So, I'm flipping around the dial post-game and I hear some dunce hosting the WGN show (not Hamp or OB) suggest that the team is itchy or pissy because of how Bennett was more or less discarded.
Hampton then started talking and I guess I didn't know what the whole deal was but how he explained it was this ... Tuesday of the Packers Thanksgiving game they're doing their redzone drills ... he says they'd likely have a dozen or so plays they'd run, and because they were presuming GB would be keyed-in on Bennett (makes sense to me) they would instead be featuring Miller ... so in the middle of practice, Bennett goes all diva and loses his shit because he's not being treated like king shit of fuck island and giving it good to Fox and the coaching staff ... next thing you know, he's not making the trip to GB and then shortly thereafter he's on IR. I'd never heard the 'guts' of the story, just that the two 'sides' were grating with each other.
Anyway, the point is Hampton said if the team was quitting because some tempremental player got his ass put down because of he's too in love with himself to care about the team first, then there's some systemic problem with whatever leadership there may be on that team.
I don't think he bought into the idea that there was a problem with the team vs the coach, but he, like I assume the rest of us, couldn't figure out who was leading in the locker room, which is probably as big a problem as anything right now ... which given the last few years probably shouldn't be very surprising.
Interesting take, thanks for the summary. I think Fox's calling card is leadership and all that jazz, so I'd be very surprised if he can't clean this up, whatever it is. If Hamp's summary is true, then obviously what's next is probably a targeted purging campaign this summer. The locker room should be all Fox guys, incumbent or incoming, next year for sure.
