This is a terrible thread. No surprise that Rick started it.

It sounds like he has been reading those draft sites.

It's possible. That's a far cry from doing the work yourself. I'm not listening though. I'm just responding to the below rfdc quote. It's pretty clear Bernsie lies and exaggerates about his son often(doesnt give a fuck about the daughter I guess). This is just another obvious example.

I can see a kid wanting to impress his Dad who works in sports talk radio by picking a player in the game, going to a website and memorizing a few sentences about the player and repeating them. But he sure as hell doesn't come up with things on his own like "he might be too long to be a 5 tech on the next level", and he sure as shit didn't say, "I don't know about you, but I'm keeping my eye on 98 tonight".

Yes, and especially when his dad spends hours screaming at people to "Watch the lineplay"

Although I could see him saying

Just get low and balanced, engage w/the forearm, slide feet, extend vertically on the shot, spin/pin.

You say he's exaggerating. I think he is understating. His son broke down the game film and relayed his thoughts in perfect Manchurian and Hebrew.

Maybe his kid had Matt Bowen on the phone and was getting fed lines through an ear piece in order to provide Really. Smart. Analysis to pops.

It's fairly obvious. With his love of NFL scouting at such a young age. Bernstein's kid grows up to be Dr. Kenneth Noisewater.

You could do worse than that.

He will be so sheltered at a magnet high school it won't be funny. This kid isn't going to get the shit beaten out of him for being a smarmy prick until he gets to college...unless he goes to Duke.

I've said it before, the kid is pretty much failure proof. He will either get into a Chicago magnate or they will move to the suburbs (per Dan). He will do well enough to pass through legacy review of his Duke application. If he chooses a career in anything in entertainment, sports, medicine or law the family has enough connections to get him that first job. He's really on a "just don't fuck this up" track for life.

of course, Tiny was on that same kind of track and fucked it up by choosing something frivolous like stand up

Dr. Ken: Hello Children, I'm your father Dr. Kenneth Noisewater.

Children: We hate you.

Dr. Ken: It's nice that we get right to it these days. Saves time.

Children: What do you want to discuss now? Our favorite color?

Dr. Ken: I see that you have been spending a lot of time in the film room.

Children: Uh...so?

Dr. Ken: I think its great you guys are really getting into football these days.

Children: What? Oh, right. Football......we love it.

Dr. Ken: Have you been studying up on technique?

Children: Hell, yeah. We were watching one guy's technique all night last night. He was talented.

Dr. Ken: One of the big guys up front?

Children: Yeah, he was pretty big.

Dr. Ken: How was he at taking on a double-team?

Children: Real good. We really learned something from that guy, for sure.

Dr. Ken: What do you suppose he was? A 5? Maybe a 7?

Children: I think he was a 9. At least.

Dr. Ken: I don't think you can go higher than a 9.

Children: Oh yes, you can.

Dr. Ken: Isn't this great? We had a real conversation. Hardly any swearing. Nothing inappropriate. We're really making progress.

Children: Yeah, you're a piece of work, Ken.

Dr. Ken: Thanks. Something to build on.

So not only is Beardown chaining posters to his furnace, he's now forcing them to write imaginary conversations?

I talk football with my youngest son fairly often. He understands a lot of the language that gets thrown around. What he did not understand was why it was important to me for the Chiefs and Texans to collectively score under 40 on Saturday.

You're not teaching financial lessons at home yet? No worries, you'll get there soon enough.

I also think he is understating in that his son is actually 23 years old and is a beer-swilling failure who lays on the couch all day watching replays of football games.

Bernstein really is quite a loser. Even of the .000001% chance his kid really is breaking it down in detail, no need to talk about it.

JB "Dad, that guys huge, the Bears should draft him"
DB "Thats amazing breakdowns"

The kid wants to play football really badly because his dad clearly prohibits it. Kids wanting to do exactly what their parents don't want is not a new phenomenon.

Kid won't be able to get a job in football if he doesn't even play at 6A+ ranked program. Way to smash your kids dreams Berns.

I challenge anyone to name the last athlete that Dan recognized in the rough, and rode with him to success. Even when he's followed a consensus pick he's pulled some dick move to separate himself from the pack. So, yeah, who has he liked that he still likes, that he hasn't flipped on at least once, that has turned out to be close to what he proclaimed him to be?

As a former fan I cannot think of a single one.

But I DO remember how he led the Eddie Robinson (& even Ben Wallace) fanboy club.
