Hell yea, he is. He hates Hawk. He would have been overjoyed with the decaying corpse of Bob Elson in the chair next to him.

Drinky was kind of angry at him during this conversation. "You really want to compare our salaries, Dan?" He was talking about how Tani doesn't want to pay for parking cuz $300 a month is a lot to somebody like him and Tani. Then he said "At least you and Terry are angry and rich. I'm angry and broke."

Then Terry made the claim that he's not a millionaire. Bernstein called bullshit on him. "You've been doing this for 25 years and you're not a millionaire?" Boers has a net worth of 5 million. At least.

Add another to the list of reasons that Dan Bernstein lives a great life.

It was a clear put down to drinky. Because he has to live in Libertyville and take the train cuz he can't afford living in the city, the gas money or paying for parking.

That's why drinky got pissed. Sometimes I feel bad for drinky. This is one of those times. It has to suck hearing your boss brag about being rich while putting down your situation.

Dan will extol the virtues of sitting on a train and catching up on your reading/podcasts when North Side Prep doesn't accept Chicago's leading NFL scout.

Yes, but in fairness his claim was made to a psycho cab driver in Vegas who asked him if he was a millionaire and demanded a $100 tip.

It was kind of funny. Yes. Wasn't my point. My point was that Bernstein bragging about his status while looking down on his subordinates was a dick thing to do.

The real nugget out of the conversation was that drinky would booze on his way INTO work. Tough job.

I'm wondering what the problem is with the train. Sure an hour train commute sucks but its not like drinky has to bust his hump for 8+ hours. If he added the commute and work he probably is at about an 8 hour day and he is taking off peak trains.

Metra is not a smelly or filthy ride. It is actually kind of nice. CTA is the one that gets sketchy sometimes...but the women are much hotter.

The train is a breeze from Libertyville...although if he walks to the train(doubtful) it's probably close to 2 miles from his neighborhood. As far as talent on the train...he used to chat up a girl I know when she was riding the train down to class...she's most definitely cute.

I'm pretty sure he wasn't. He said he'd have a beer. One beer isn't funny.

Also, apparently schmutzie hits the sauce hard.

The conversation seemed like a direct shot at people who work in the markets. The people I see drinking heavily on the train were never derelict looking types.

Rich, but not the right kind of rich.

Scumbags who made their bones in an archaic setting that is thankfully being replaced by technology.

Two groups drink heavily on the train (at least the Rock Island). The construction/blue collar guys and the market guys (and gals)

You could be right. Drinky is tough to read. He cracks wise so god damn often that you never know with him. He really is amazing that way in that you rarely ever hear him just do a normal conversation. Especially with Bernstein.

Thinking about it more, I don't think there was ever a point in Dan's life where he took Metra. If he did, he certainly didn't take it during the hours those groups did.

Yeah, why do the market guys drink so much on the train? I really haven't seen other occupational groups do that.

Because the other riders are super uptight about them snorting cocaine.

He's basing his idea off a combination of the CTA and what he hears second hand from people like DiCaro

Drinky got his nickname somehow. The station people only stopped it after his DUI I think?

I had a friend in the industry. We were talking about winding down at night. I said that I hardly ever drank on a week night. I meant that I don't drink any alcohol regularly. He agreed that he didn't drink much during the week either. He said he might only have a six pack on the way home.
